Getting ripped and getting big and ripped are very different. Its possible but obviously the old you get the harder and more recovery time you need.

They work. The rest of the shit can't compete. Now if the question is , how can I , without steroids, get as big and ripped as possible, now you're free to offer whatever snake oil you believe in. Get ripped, sure. Just takes work IMO. Get big ... not so much. |

I mean this is a very basic basic workout routine -

Your body cant grow unless you give it the fuel. diet is 90% of the game the other 10% is your training. All in all it easy to push weights around, but to be consistent with diet takes discipline. |

Anyway i would suggest working out 5 times a week. A cardio workout. So you can go heavy, but not max. I would sugest pyramiding your sets. 4 sets of an exercise...12 reps, 10, reps, 8 reps, 6 reps....increasing weight each time. Do not take breaks in between sets. So you are getting a cardio workout as well as lifting. consult your doctor..lol |

in my experience, your friend will not put on any new muscle after 40 without serious supplementation.
however, with a solid workout schedule and seriously proper diet he can gain back any muscle he maight have had when younger due to muscle memory. but after 40, the amount and quality of time away from the gym is even more important. and it does in fact take years, as it does when under 40. |

BTW I forgot one thing.
Disipline. I NEVER skip a training. I don't eat french fries, no unhealty fat, no rubish food, -> ONLY HEALTH FOOD. Only one day in the weekend I have a refeed-day (not a cheatday). Then I eat one dish that I like. It's a way of living. Not for everyone. |

i will be 47 in 4 weeks. I started when I was 45 and couldnt bench 125 pounds. Now i bench 340. I lift weights i could even think about lifting 10 years ago.
