Family members are questioning the death of a 95-year-old WWII U.S. Air Corps sergeant who killed by cops at an assisted living center last month after resisting medical treatment.

John Wrana died from injuries sustained in an incident, which was later ruled as a homicide by the medical examiner, by Park Forest police on July 27. Police were called to Victory Centre, according to the Chicago Tribune, when it was reported by faculty that he was being ?combative,? resisting medical treatment to which he was being ?involuntarily? committed to.

He was shot with a beanbag... not a bullet. He was threatening staff with a butcher knife among other things.

Why are facts so irrelevant to so many people here?

He was shot with a beanbag which they say was what caused him to die. He was 95.
He was sitting in his chair...and staff say they did not even see him pick up a knife.

It was a beanbag - I can see fighting off an OAP with a beanbag - It even makes sense.....

If you are a cop and feel the need to resort to violence against a 95 year old man. Who is sitting down. You are a loser.

If you read the whole thing, when they shot him he was sitting alone in a room all by himself a threat to no one.

I'm sure a stern talking would have set him straight. Perhaps a threat of revoking his apple pie dessert rights.

Absolute truth - I have had to restrain a 103 year old women - It was in XXXX and I will tell you it was not easy.....

She died that night - It's a last 'fight' if you like...

He was 95!~ I spend quite a bit of my week helping my 93 year old gran and I can tell you right now, if she was *wielding* a knife, I could take it off her with absolutely no one getting hurt.

at close quaters (like the rooms in nursing homes) a beanbag round from a shotgun could kill a fit, young person, let alone a geriatric in need of care... If he had already been tasered (which is also going too far in my opinion) there would have been no need to shoot him as well. This is a fucking disgusting act by heavy handed cops. I hope they lose their jobs.

And having worked at a retirement home, I know many of them have on staff security who are equipped for such things.

Did you read the whole thing? There probably was no knife,it was probably the excuse the cop used after fucking up. Also even if he had a knife he was sitting in a chair alone in a room by himself. No staff in the room and they asked the police to let them try to calm him down. They decided to shoot him instead. I felt threatened. Its like the cop get out of jail free card.

You know absolutely nothing of what happened or what he was doing in his room... and OBVIOUSLY he was a fucking threat because he was running around threatening people according to staff with a "butcher knife" and other objects. You think police live at the nursing home???? Or do you think someone called the police because there was a serious problem that they couldn't handle? The article says they were in riot gear. Why do you think that was? Riot Fashion week at the Old Folks Home where the police just happened to be anyway?

And although I understand a life of union membership has made you and the rest of the world in your eyes nothing but perpetual victims being perpetually abused and exploited, the simple fact is you know nothing about what happened. Police aren't exactly trained to leave a guy alone in a room that has been threatening the lives of others. If you had all the facts that made it out to be that the guy who was shot was trying to murder everyone and had a hostage, you still wouldn't care because in your unionized mind, he can only be a victim of The Man.

Furthermore, you know nothing of the circumstances of which they shot him with a non lethal round. It might have been to stop him from stabbing himself in the throat. There was clearly a lot going on that you know nothing about.

I love that you fucking idiots reasoned that the only obvious explanation is that police showed up to murder a 95 year old guy in front of the staff... and that there really are no other plausible explanations.
