And who's that DchBg?

BlackCrayon 02-15-2014 11:23 AM

i wouldn't mind seeing her eating some pussy...but when is the media going to stop telling us who is gay? i think people no longer care. lets just say all actors/actresses are gay and be done with it.

dyna mo 02-15-2014 11:28 AM

who is she and why should I give a shit what her, or anyone's, sexuality is?

Scott McD 02-15-2014 11:30 AM

Exactly. If i just read somewhere that she's gay, i'd have be like "oh". And that's it.

Why everyone feels the need for some huge speech to let the world know just seems odd now. People don't really care anymore...

It's a better speech than that, but yeah a little fullamelo... 5:20 is when she comes out directly.

Speech is worth watching because there's a beginning/middle/end, or at least a book-ending structure...

Funny how this has been known for years. Like Jody Foster. How many times do they get to "come out"?

Really? I dunno, I don't care about artists' personal lives myself. I just check out their stuff, their "output". Since I'm not LGBT myself, I may be insensitive to those people's personal issues over all, and I don't denigrate someone like Ellen Page's coming out, or the rumours John Travolta or Tom Cruise being gay, as if those things matter to me. Obviously they do, to them, but really I'm kinda cold on all that.

I'm aware of the issue of how "most people" or society feels about these things, but I think I'm either indifferent or unaware of how big a problem it is, probably because of a lack of exposure or knowledge of the personal experience of these "issues".

Makes me ask, who cares? What's the big deal? And really, apart from the "indifference" and "who fucking cares" attitude most people *should* have, I wonder if I should help more some how or give a fuck in a productive way...

:D

And the world was waiting for the elephant in the room to be announced.

Not much.

TidalWave 02-15-2014 04:34 PM

So whats the announcement? Who cares? She's the one making it a bigger deal than it is.

And therein lies the problem. They make a big deal out their sexuality, rub it in people's faces, get boy scouts and children to feel the need to claim their sexuality and wear it on their sleeves.

The cause would be much further along if gays and lesbians actually made it less of a deal.
Yeah, I'm a lesbian/gay, no biggie. move along.

DVTimes 02-15-2014 05:13 PM

thats a shock

Yeah, I'm a lesbian/gay, no biggie. move along.

In this case she was at an event put on the by the Human Rights Campaign and she was speaking to a group of counselors and people who help gay kids who are having trouble with their families/schools etc when they come out.

For them having an Oscar nominated actress who has been in some very big movies say this publicly can be a big deal. It helps show that there are a lot of gay people out there, not just the effeminate kid in gym class that everyone thinks is strange.

In a perfect world it wouldn't matter. You would be who you want to be, love who you want to love, and marry who you want to marry, but that is not the world we live in. There are many places in this country where being gay is a big deal. People are killed and assaulted just because they are gay.

To me what she did would be attention grabbing if she called a press conference and announced it or was presenting at an awards show and said it or something like that. But telling it to a group of people whose work she admires is different. I'm sure she knew it would become a big story (at least for a few days), but to me it didn't come off as being a publicity stunt.

You really think that's OK? To encourage youngsters to come out and lead a life based on their sexuality?

That's fundamentally wrong. ANd I never said anything about attention grabbing.

I think it is perfectly okay for a person to say, "I'm gay and I expect the same treatment as everyone else."

Currently that doesn't happen.

In most states it is still illegal for gay people to be married. In some countries around the world gay people are killed for being gay.

I don't condone the crazy gay pride parades. I don't think seeing a guy walking down the street doused in glitter and wear assless chaps is helping anyone. But I think demanding equal treatment is perfectly okay.

YOu think it's OK for youngsters that don't even have pubic hair yet to not only make a decision about their sexuality, but to declare it and choose it to be a lifestyle?

That's wrong, man.

Moreover, It's insane that these adults who are insecure in their own sexuality feel the need to get up in front of our youth and tell them to declare their sexuality in some backwards attempt to feel better about themselves (the adults) being gay.

It's reprehensible.

:thumbsup On both counts. Scarlett Johansson and Ellen Paige hook up on an X-Men and Avengers crossover would be awesome.

I guess we will have to agree to disagree on this one.

Every gay person I have ever known said they knew from a young age that they were gay. Most of them were just scared shitless about telling anyone. Nobody is forcing anyone to declare anything or live any kind of lifestyle. What they are working for is an environment where a gay person can live openly and not have to worry about being attacked, killed, discriminated against.

These adults that you feel are using kids to make themselves feel better were once these scared and confused kids. They are simply trying to make it easier for these kids.

Should they just keep it to themselves? While everyone else dates, goes to dances, holds hands with their boyfriend/girlfriend etc should someone who is gay just keep it in the closet?

you are aware I live in the world too right? You make it sound like you're the only one around gay people, you're not.

ANd there's no proof whatsoever that having kids declare their sexuality is somehow helping gays.

It makes zero sense to have youngsters feel the need to declare their sexuality at a time when they're still learning social skills. Kids get fucked with for any reason under the sun. I got fucked with because my names rhymes with a stupid word and because I was on the swim team instead of the football team.

No, no one is forcing youngsters to do it, but they are coercing them by having d-list celebrities tell them it's OK, because hey, I just did.

It's outrageous.

Be gay, be straight, there's no need to flaunt it, especially during your formative years and especially disguised as some sort of motivational bullshit speech.

As I said earlier, be yourself, don't make a big deal about it.

Who is asking anyone to flaunt anything?

Nobody is telling these kids to hold a press conference and tell the world they are gay. They are simply saying that being gay is okay.

In a perfect world a gay kid in school could be themselves and date whomever they wanted and it wouldn't be a big deal. We don't live in that world.

To me people like the HRC are simply telling people it is fine to be gay and they provide help to those who need it.

It's completely misguided and self-serving. There's no proof whatsover that what these adults are doing is a good thing for youngsters.

flaunt verb \ˈflȯnt, ˈflänt\

Where is anyone suggesting there is proof of that?

I think you'd love it in Russia mate, it's illegal for kids to receive any education about homosexuality there, sounds right up your street.
