The BMW Z4 ?

OK, not trying to be a clever cunt, but I'm kinda looking at upgrading my MX5 to a NEW BMW Z4 (When the new model comes out)

Any experience of these cars? Obviously, I'll take a 'test drive' etc... But does anyone own / have owned a Z4 and if so... What you fink??? :)

Cheerzzzz :)

Grapesoda 02-16-2014 11:34 AM

probably a nice car just don't like the look myself

Struggle4Bucks 02-16-2014 11:36 AM

From MX5 to Z4? Are you exploring your feminine side?

Yep, the LONG 'hood' (American term?) on the Z4, kinda turns me off, but I fancy a bit more power than my MX5....

Not as easily available in the UK, as in the USA...

However, I agree 100% :thumbsup I;d LOVE a Corvette, but the part prices and servicing costs, (In The UK) would be silly... :(

I would get the HT version... :) Like my MX5 :)

But thanks for your feedback... Its hard to tell if the 'BMW' badge is 'just status' or an actual sign of quality :thumbsup

As far as I remember Z3/Z4 were marketed as men's cars. Same as Porsche boxter.
If any of those two (miata and z4) are more feminine it is not bmw.

I'm not saying it aren't nice cars... but... and that's my personal opinion... regardless to who it was marketed too... i think they look a bit feminine.

You are CORRECT....

But she doesn't give an opinion on it....

Why downgrade (or at least do a lateral move) when you can upgrade instead?

I can understand that it may look feminine. I just can not understand how they look more feminine than miata.

Cause where I live, I couldn't park that anywhere without some jealous prick 'keying it'... :(

Its not that I live in a really bad area, but in the UK, people who don't have much, set out to deliberately fuck over those who have....

To coin a phrase....

America wants to MAKE YOU... The UK wants to BREAK YOU!

:( :( :(

American Psycho 02-16-2014 12:36 PM

Do you live in camel jockey, African immigrant or chav area?

I can not believe it is so bad.. Especially when you say that you do not live in "really bad" area.

nm_ 02-16-2014 01:26 PM

Get the z3m coupe with the hard top. Way more aggressive looking :) (has a nice wide stance).

Or just go big and go m5 hahah

dyna mo 02-16-2014 01:29 PM

keep the miata. it's a fantastic sport car, great chassis, fun to drive, not ostentatious. It goes plenty fast.

For real....

Sorry, but its the truth :(

i drove an E85. wasnt impressed. you feel every single groove on the road. then you start avoiding any real bumps cause they hurt. No room if your a big guy.

at least nobody is gonna key your miata cause they are jealous.

:2 cents:

MaDalton 02-16-2014 03:18 PM

might also consider an SLK then...

mlmleads 02-16-2014 03:19 PM

M5 <--- Sexy Beast!

BMW's are always harder on suspension compared to most of the competitors. That's one of their key features. Not for everybody.
I am almost sure that TT or SLK would have softer touch in that regard.

nexcom28 02-16-2014 04:25 PM

I run a BMW 3 series M Sport and it's without a doubt the best car I have ever driven. Refinement, looks, quality. It's great.

Ross 02-16-2014 07:58 PM

I had a Z4 in 2008, loved it. Great car to drive even if you are on the taller side, I'm 6' 1" and found it very spacious even with the roof up. The rear wheel drive can be tricky in the wet or snow but so long as you drive to the conditions, you shouldn't find much issues with it in all honesty. Make sure you get the heated seats, I'm not sure if they come standard now but it was an extra when I had mine, they are great for driving around on a nice summers night with the roof down, just gives you that little bit of extra comfort I found.

When I bought my Z4, I was looking at that or the Mercedes SLK and the BMW won hands down.

Here's a couple of photos of mine, it was 15 months old when I got it. I much prefer the newer model nowadays tho.

No, he is a well known male GFYer.

I had a Z3 for a while, it was fun and I fit in it, I'm 6'3". The new Z4 was pretty highly rated on Top Gear

Even though the Z3 had little power, it was still a fun car to drive.

So with a bunch of HP added to it, I'm sure it's a blast to drive. Very small in trunk space, worse with the top down

Hey, thanks for the personal review :)
I'm definitely gonna look into it, but the 'Top Gear' review posted, actually kinda puts me off... :(

You see, I always refer to my MX-5 as a 'precision vehicle' - Cause it is... But if the Z4 is more of a 'Monster' (As suggested by the video) it may not be what want in a sports car....

Call me 'wet', but the precision angel, is what I want from a car...

But time will tell - Cant say anything till I've driven one myself, so test drive is imminent :)

Thanks
