Hernia surgery... who's had it
having laparoscopic bilateral hernia repair next wed... anyone else have it?
|
Obamacare paying for this? Mesh or stitch?
|
I had it. Inguinal hernia. Mesh. For 2-3 days after the surgery you will need a person around to assist you. I slept in a recliner chair as well.
|
Had surgery for a herniated disk in the lower back that sidelined me for 7 months with a badly compressed sciatic nerve - a few years back.
Luckily I had a top-notch surgeon at the time...and made a full recovery. Good luck with the procedure. :) |
dad had that.......................over doing the jogging........................he never learns.
|
I had an umbilical hernia a few years ago and it wasn't much fun.
|
Because of the stitching/anchor points, many men lose 1-2 inches of penis length. Mine didn't get any shorter (thank god), but now tilts toward the hernia side. A friend had the mesh work loose and sink toward his balls.

Ouch...sorry to hear, but I guess surgery is better than no surgery. Have luck! :thumbsup :stoned ADG |
I was too young to remember but I had a double hernia
|
I had one a few years back, a groinal one, right next to my tool. It was kinda embareasing going and whopping the old fella out in front of my doctor, but had to be done.
Anyway, the surgery didn't hurt, because I was knocked out at the time. But when I came to, I was crawling up the fucking bed. It is REALLY sore. Your dick goes black and bruised along with a lot of the local area, and you just can't touch anything around there for days. It'll take you a good few days to properly get back on your feet, and a couple of weeks before you can even think about gentle sex! Tough time |
Take care of your groinich bros
|
Having surgery of ANY kind sucks - all I can say is: Best of LUCK and quick recovery after!

I also have a herniated disk. If it doesnt get better in 3-4 months i'll also have to do a operation. Hope everything will go well for you and speedy recovery!
|
I have had it done before...i had a full hernia on one side and a partial on the other. No mesh has been used and I have been lifting for the past 5 years without a hitch (500+lb Deadlifts) I am a huge proponent of not using mesh unless absolutely neccessary.
Youll have a whole new outlook on your abs and core after this. The most trivial things such as sneezing, coughing, farting, squeezing the last drop of pee out, blowing your nose, getting up to pee int he middle of the night become rather difficult or painful. I had a Pain-ball which is like a bladder filled with a local that numbed the area for about 3-4 days. |
I remember the guy from a fake agent site has a hernia.

I saw every specialist I could between mesh and no mesh... here in Las Vegas we have 1 doctor that does no mesh.. in the country there are only like 5 that do the no mesh technic I would do the "shouldice" after talking with the doctors and surgeons I decided to go with mesh for strength.... I am a lean guy with very little body fat... I walk at 7-8% body fat and when I cut weight to compete I get down to the 4% range ... we also decided to do laparoscopic so we can go under the muscle to patch it rather than over... again I'm to thin and if we did open surgery you will feel the mesh and I take a bad chance on hitting that nerve and going numb in the leg or extreme burning in the leg.... I am pretty happy with the doctor I chose so far... everything I read and all the surgeons I talked to said choice of surgeon is more important than type of surgery.... |
and guys ... ingunal hernia is much much different from hernited disc in back.... I have 3 herniated disc in my neck and id rather have these than an ingunal hernia.... my neck ill leave alone but it feels like my guts are going to explode into my balls......
|
Ah nice we are very similar then in that regard, currently sitting at 7-8% and cutting. Do you do NPC or WBFF? How old are you? I was 22 when I had the surgery and age was definitely a factor in whether or not the mesh was an option or not.

I'm always training with welterweights and above ..... the doc says as long as I take it easy the first 2 weeks to let the mesh sit in place and attach itself I should be good .... ill be cleared for cardio and plyo after 2 weeks and sky is limit after 4 weeks.... there is always a 1-2% chance the hernia can return... he says it all depends how well the mesh sits in the start... so first 4 weeks is the crucial point.... I'm not training I don't have fighters getting ready for fights so I may hold off on cardio for 3 weeks ... not sure yet..... out of everything I'm reading I'm most worried about the gas they pump in me to inflate my stomach.... I hear horror stories about it causing bad chest pains after surgery |
Well I can say I have not had any chest pains or issues post surgery. The scar is almost non existent at this point and I am stronger than ever.
|
Best of luck man! Let us know how it went!
|
I had it more than once
Get the mesh, afterwards, it's almost impossible to rip it Get a really comfortable recliner that's easy to get in and out of and stay there till you feel like you can walk |
man I'm not looking forward to recovery

have the nurses gopro it and then post it
|
Sounds like it's not a big deal since it's not a spinal disc hernia.
I guess you lift the wrong way. Got to be more careful and learn how to lift the correct way. |
All the best!

Danza becareful sitting down on the bowl! Im telling you, pay CLOSE mind to the muscles you use when you move around pre surgery. It will save you heaps of pain later on. |

thankfully I'm kind of used to pain... in the fight biz you never "not have pain" somewhere... I've had my share of motorcycle accidents ... but as a trainer I know the core and how much you use it for everything.... you think ribs are useless break one and try to do anything... I tell guys when wiping your own ass becomes a chore you need to rest...... like you said doc said I could have had these since birth and one wrong move and lift can make it bigger and it grows over time..... I still think I got it during an intense training session before my guy had a title fight... if you know me and how I teach ... I am hands on and in it.... when I teach how to defend the takedown I try my best to take you down... I guess at all cost LOL.... |
oh BTW... doc said we can film it so I got my guy showing up with the dslr , and go pro stationary plus one hdv on tripod pointed at doc's monitor....
3 total cameras.... hopefully ill feel up to editing it day of surgery since ill have nothing else to do |
Sweet! The best is waking up with 1/2 your pubes shaved LOL

I'm already shaved I wonder if they will knock that off the bill |
all I can say is ouch
coming too from the sleeping drug was a motherfucker |
Had surgery 4 times, all different methods.
If you have a shitload of pain, ask your medic for shit load of pain killers + anti biotics. If your shit or piss in your pants do surgery as soon as possible! |
