The core of the problem is the ability for bad actors to hide behind anonymous nicks. They have no fear of repercussions from their actions, so they go to extremes. By unmasking them (like in this thread), they are less likely to act out in the future.

Fake nicks have always been the key problem that GFY presents. Take those away, and this place is great ... but a lot of valuable people got fed up with the fake nicks and left a while back.
