Do any of you use your computer
...in safe mode. If so how frequently? I usually work in safe mode when using certain software as it is much faster.

when something goes s wrong and windows doesnt boot up in regular mode
|
|
Safe mode must be some stupid Windows thing, kind of like training wheels on a wheelchair.

Nope, only if there's been a problem and then it is just to start it and restart again.

Or when I try to wipe up some virus (but that haven't happened in years). |

Enjoy your 640 x 480 screen? That makes no sense at all. Unless you trying to fix something there is no reason the be in safe mode. If you are using safe mode to improve performance it sounds like you need to finally upgrade your pentium 90 running windows me. That's like saying your vehicle gives a smoother ride when it"s in the garage on a hoist.

Never, it's useless IMHO.
|
No, you are the only one.

Haven't used Safe Mode in years.
But it is great for sorting out errors when they do popup. AdultKing as a Mac user you may wish to know OSX also has this not just windows... Seems you may want to learn a little more about your OS... :/ What is "Safe Mode"? http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1564?viewlocale=en_US Safe Mode (sometimes called Safe Boot) is a way to start up your Mac so that it performs certain checks, and prevents some software from automatically loading or opening. |

Core 2 processors came out in 2006. Probably when you purchased the machine you're using. |

I'm sure 1024 x 768 is fine on your 17 inch crt but anyone who doesnt live in a cave these days is running a minimum of 1080p monitors. You realize it is meant as a diagnostic mode, right, disabling all advanced features? Switching into safe mode to gain performance means 2 things, you're a complete dumb ass and there's something wrong with your computer to cause it to bog down when not in safe mode. Plus your computer is ancient garbage. |

Instead of wasting your time booting into safe mode you should be trying to figure out what is slowing your computer down. Did you really think using safe mode for everyday computing was a normal practice? And that there would actually be other people here that did the same thing? Lol
