1 of Mark Wahlberg's victims says he shouldn't be pardoned

BOSTON (AP) ? A victim of one of Mark Wahlberg's racially motivated attacks as a teenage delinquent in segregated Boston in the 1980s insists he shouldn't be granted a pardon for his crimes.

Kristyn Atwood was among a group of mostly black fourth-grade students on a field trip to the beach in 1986 when Wahlberg and his white friends began hurling rocks and shouting racial epithets as they chased them down the street.

"I don't think he should get a pardon," Atwood, now 38 and living in Decatur, Georgia, said in an interview with The Associated Press.

"I don't really care who he is. It doesn't make him any exception. If you're a racist, you're always going to be a racist. And for him to want to erase it I just think it's wrong," she said.

Mary Belmonte, the white teacher who brought the students to the neighborhood beach that day, sees things differently. "I believe in forgiveness," she said. "He was just a young kid ? a punk ? in the mean streets of Boston. He didn't do it specifically because he was a bad kid. He was just a follower doing what the other kids were doing."

The 43-year-old former rapper, Calvin Klein model and "Boogie Nights" actor wants official forgiveness for a separate, more severe attack in 1988, in which he assaulted two Vietnamese men while trying to steal beer. That attack sent one of the men to the hospital and landed Wahlberg in prison.

oh man he said some racist shit and had violent friends while being 15 and living in south boston???

the shock and horror...

bronco67 01-20-2015 11:32 AM

people can change a lot over decades. Just because he did that shit around other dumb ass Boston kids doesn't mean he had hate in his heart. It's very possible he was being a dumb kid following the pack.

mineistaken 01-20-2015 11:35 AM

A scandal! Call Scum Sharpton!

Captain Kawaii 01-20-2015 11:36 AM

He's trying to expand his burger chain. He needs beer licenses etc and cannot get them without a pardon. End of story. It appears he was a leader in this stuff and not just a follower.

BlackCrayon 01-20-2015 11:39 AM

Would a regular person get a pardon? he shouldn't be treated any better or worse for being famous. I had no idea boston was segregated in the 80s...wow.

L-Pink 01-20-2015 12:10 PM

There should be no pardon for this type of behavior.

Jman 01-20-2015 12:30 PM

From what I have heard he was always following his older brother and his friends, That's what My ex girl said. "He was a little annoying kid that wouldn't leave them alone". Doesn't sound like he was the leader of any pack.

The Porn Nerd 01-20-2015 12:53 PM

He's a fucking tool, a shitty actor, probably a closeted gay, has horrible taste in everything and is, above all else, the least talented member of his dysfunctional idiot family.

Fuck him.

Simple answer...
Yes a regular person would not still have charges from when they were 15 years old hanging over their head as an adult...

Joshua G 01-20-2015 01:12 PM

all marky mark needs to do is cut a check for $20,000 to the Reverend Al fund. all will be forgiven.

you are playing stupid right???

Bama 01-20-2015 01:40 PM

Another example of when "equal rights" is expected to be "special rights".

Wahlberg did something wrong, was sent to prison, did his time and released. He wiised up (whether his prejudice way of thinking changed or not) and hasn't re-offended.

So by all publicly known accounts, he has reformed but you are unwilling to accept that he's done his time, reformed and made a better person out of himself but you're one of the first to run toward the boards on any issues where this type of behavior is targeted toward a black person.

Good for the goose, good for the gander. Equal rights doesn't mean special rights.

The Porn Nerd 01-20-2015 01:43 PM

Two wrongs don't make a right but three rights make a left.

I'm not an ambiturner either. I've had this problem since I was a baby. I can't turn left.

Lots of people didn't.

Egging someones ones house (everyone did) is quite different than what he DID and was CAUGHT and PROSECUTED and CONVICTED.

SO NO - he should NOT have any special treatment just because of his fame and money.

Dude I talk to guys that we hated each others as kids in school. That's the meaning of GROWING up. One day you might understand.

Our society is raising pussies, over parenting and dramatizing to the max, fucking sad and glad I do not have a kid growing in this fucked up world.

Where so I say he should have special treatment, he's asking a pardon, just like ANYONE can after a while.

You guys sure know how to put words in peoples mouth just for the sake of trolling :1orglaugh:1orglaugh:1orglaugh

Can you really do that in America? Just ask for a pardon? wow! In most countries a pardon is only granted if found not guilty after the time served or for being a super-duper credit to the country.

after 30 years??? i should fuckin hope so or you have truly lead a worthless life...

czarina 01-20-2015 02:15 PM

I'd still hit that ;P

RobertL 01-20-2015 02:15 PM

Yes, of course, in America, you can. If you have been convicted of a crime, and served time or whatever penalty was imposed, after a number of years of good behavior you can request your crime be pardoned, or stricken from your record, or whatever. Felons can't vote in America, but if you have reformed yourself you can request to have that status removed.

I am sure someone who cared enough to do the research would be able to show you that many non famous people have been pardoned after years of good behavior, which Marky Mark has definitely exhibited since becoming an adult.

RobertL 01-20-2015 02:18 PM

I have befriended a few people who used to treat me terrible, bully me, etc., when I was 13-15. We're now Facebook friends, have talked about how shitty kids can be in high school, and moved on...I think that's what people do, no?

What's that saying about holding in hate being like swallowing poison to kill your enemies?

Why you like cry racism so much all the time? People feel about you because of reason. You commit crime, live free with government help, and cry for more help. I know many immigrant from africa work really hard and provide for family, but second and more generation always lazy and do lots of crime.
Marky Mark is good person with great body and talent. Very popular brand in Europe too.
