Is PayPal integrated into NATS? Interesting.

venus 01-26-2015 10:31 AM

yes, like all the other billing solutions, the thing with paypal is you put the return in paypal to a nats page and I don't know the function of that page, but I am sure a programmer will know how to use it

Submit a ticket and we can help you with the seutp of Paypal of course. We're expecting quite a bit of snow up here tomorrow, but staff will be on from home.

venus 01-26-2015 05:44 PM

did that, paypal is working fine with NATS, its just not adding passwords to the password file, the tech who helped said its usually a third party script to add passwords to password file

Are you planning to access the NATS database, or does NATS allow for "triggering" a script on join (and, potentially, on expiration)? John can probably speak to this.

venus 01-26-2015 05:55 PM

the customer is allowed to make a password and it is sent to me, but its not added to password file, to make it do it, you would think the NATS return URL (that you put in paypal as return URL)
/signup/returnurl_paypal.php

would be able to add the password at that point..but I don't know what that php file actually does and cant go digging around in it..I would probably mess it up.

You really should be authenticating off of the database rather than a text file. If you'd like our guys to help you set it up just let me know & I'll make sure they walk you through it so it's all working how you'd like it to be & fully understood.

Yes, there are postbacks that he can use to call a script of his to process data post sale (rebill, expire, etc.). I believe that's the script he's looking for someone to write for him.

venus 01-26-2015 06:33 PM

yup, correct

Slick. With a script as mature as NATS, this is how I'd expect PayPal to be integrated, I just didn't want to assume. :thumbsup

Surprised nobody has a nats postback script for wordpress yet, that would likely sell a copy or two as a paid add-on.

And would likely be worthwhile with just one or two sales, considering most WP guys wrap things up in an hour or two. Candyflip's beau may be interested; I think she has some experience in CMS platforms like that. How do we summon him again?

Candyflip, candyflip, candyflip! :1orglaugh

She's my Baby Momma - she hasn't been my girl in 2 years. We do live under the same roof, so that is where people typically get confused. :winkwink: :1orglaugh

She'll fuck around with Wordpress, but only if the $$$ is right.

Yeah, no one is suggesting she do it for charity. :thumbsup

She won't put the time in and then hope to sell it. But if someone wanted it done, she'd be more than willing. :winkwink:

My concern would be my assumption that wordpress does not have a standardized authentication system.

If you're just talking about adding/removing users within wordpress when a transaction occurs or they expire that's something I think would be a good addition to NATS, and if you're interested in getting it done let me know.

If you're talking about treating existing wordpress users differently depending on access levels it gets a bit more involved can vary greatly from instance to instance. Not that it's not doable or we can't discuss it in that case, but it gets much more complicated to add as a "core feature".

Talk to Woj, he's great.

Check into the s2member extension. It supports user levels fairly capably, and would be a good addition in the context.

still waiting to see if anyone has a script to use with NATS and paypal...

Personally I am tired of dealing with the constant updates, security issues and other stuff that seems to accompany Wordpress, but that's just me, clearly Wordpress has a lot of fans. The problems are likely not because it's bad software just because its so widespread it's a constant target.

Dispite my current fatigue there was a time not too long ago I would have seen big dollar signs if there was a way to control user access to premium posts while plugging in recurring billing and tracking affiliate commissions via NATS.

It's a free CMS that's easy to use, looks great if you don't intentionally make it ugly, has a ton of features and more add-ons than anything I know of and it's most people's first script when they start playing weekend webmaster.

So yeah, I don't see how it wouldn't be a plus for TMM to have a way to add billing, affiliate tracking and user management to it, might attract a lot of startup paysites, hell seems nearly half the internet runs on Wordpress so quite a few longstanding sites might decide to go premium that way.

Ask someone to write you a postback script, all you need is some PHP to read NATS postbacks and insert the user credentials into the WP database. I am sure TMM can do it, just make sure you tell them you want a postback script, don't start talking about "integration" like I always do, that word means something else to them and adds a few zeroes to the quote every time.

This exists.

Sorry for insulting your intelligence. FYI : I own a successful website and have an excellent programmer, but he is a Savant with no social skills and his answer to my question would be likely similar to yours. I am a business person who makes a lot of money in this business, but i am not a geek. That is why I am here trying to find somebody who can replace him. I guess you will not be a candidate. :error:2 cents:

Correct. I do not engage on non-impactful opportunities, and you are unlikely to be able to meet my rate schedule. Your passive-agressive attempt to make me feel bad for insulting you has failed. My apologies.

Many people "home-brew" a combination of s2member and a billing system. OfferIt would be a good choice for the latter.

NATS for adult, OfferIt for mainstream. Same company, same quality, same support. :2 cents:

iSpyCams 01-29-2015 03:02 PM

So possibly, Venus doesn't need a programmer after all, just s2member and it seems he/she already has NATS. right?
