Name 5 Bands You Wish Still Toured
I'm talking about when they were young and strong, not now when they're ancient and with barely any original members. For example, Led Zeppelin with John Bonham as their drummer, etc.
For me it's: The Who The Grateful Dead Bruce Springsteen & the (original) E Street Band KISS Queen I was lucky enough to have seen them all except for The Who. (I saw them years after Keith Moon died. Still good but not the same thing.) Who were the best live bands you ever saw? |
Ramones
Social Distortion |
The Who and KISS still tour. Matter of fact, The Who is about to kick off another tour on Feb 11, and KISS just started their 2016 tour today.

I see several posters have mentioned Led Zeppelin. I saw them in 1975 in London, and did not like them live--even though I was, and still am, a huge fan of their albums. They were incredibly over-indulgent, almost to the point of parody, and the zenith of this was Jimmy Page playing his Les Paul with a violin bow for twenty fucking minutes during just one song.
A couple years ago, I had the misfortune to catch the end of a Yanni concert on TV, and for the encore number Yanni would play a few notes on his violin, flourish the bow to great applause, and then play a few more notes, ad nauseam. I instantly flashed back to Jimmy Page doing the same thing while playing the classic 'Dazed and Confused'. And it made me feel sad for a while, but then I just smiled . . . . |

Led Zeppelin Van Halen ofc with Mike Static X Joe Cocker not a band but! big artist! |

I saw Van Halen with Wolfgang, and yes, the kid can play, but there is no Van Halen sound without Mike. Not to mention he added a lot more electricity to their stage presence then people actually ever gave him credit for. |

LSD much better with GD - the jams are an epic journey on a treacherous mountain highway where the Zep jams are like a stalled vehicle off a dirt road on a rainy day. |

And yes, I am totally with you on this one. When the live Zep 3 CD set came out (How The West Was Won) I was so excited because I had never heard Led Zeppelin live other than the very weak The Song Remains The Same soundtrack. Man was I disappointed! There was some good acoustic stuff on there but the rest was exactly like you said. I want to get back into the Dead but it makes me so sad to hear their music now. I hated it when jerry died and the roving caravan of fans that followed them everywhere just stopped. To me, that and Cobain equaled the death of rock as we knew it. Sniff. :sadcrying |

I waited 30 years with hopes Dave would someday regroup with them - only to be disappointed when he finally did. The ADKOT album sounded good, IMO...but Roth's vocals in concert were extremely bad. I found myself thinking Sammy would've been the better of the two - but I doubt that'll ever happen. |
Bowie
Queen The Cure (late-80s) Beastie Boys Grateful Dead Fleetwood Mac (Rumours era) |

I would include Lou Reed. I saw him once in the eighties and he was incredible. I miss Lou! |
