What does he call a group of poor white people all living in one area? Or is there no such thing

Not sure where you live but we don't really have that here in the Midwest unless you count small towns.

There is a white ghetto in Baltimore. Not kidding. Driving through it is really weird, you see all these white kids sitting on the stoops.

What he should have said, is that no one in the USA knows what it's like to be poor. The middle class in the US is still in the top 8% of the world population, and the very poorest of the poor are still in the top 32% on the planet.

Sometimes people just have no idea how well they actually live. Even the poorest in western countries.

Even though downtown Detroit is populated by Africans aren't all/most of the arenas, convention centers, conference halls located in downtown? I mean that is the usual layout of most of the cities, you can not usually hold massive meeting in suburbia, not only due to lack of huge halls, bit also logistics - downtown is where the action is at. And Detroit is the biggest city after all, in case you would say - they could have organized in some smaller city.

So when I was seventeen and living in my car and didn't have money for gas no less food, I was still rich and entitled?

plenty of Americans know what it's like to be poor. it makes zero sense to compare poverty in America to someone in the desert in Africa. $2/day here = 0

Not poverty in terms of dollars per day, poverty in terms of access to any kind of services at all.... starving to death with no access to water or medical care, no chance of shelter, etc, etc, etc... At one point, after the army, I was homeless for about 7 months with no family or friends to help me, and yet, having lived in a bunch of places around the world, I can tell you that people in the US have no idea what poverty, as the rest of the world know it, is like.

Well... I haven't only "traveled" I've lived in a bunch of different countries, but when you put it that way, apparently my point is that you don't actually understand the difference between poor in the US and poor in terms of the vast majority of humans on the planet.

Welch Auditorium on the other side of the state has 3,800 seats and is in a prime Republican dominated area of the state of Michigan. This was a decision of the RNC and they are in fantasy land it they think the City of Detroit was much interested is what the candidates had to say.

Bernie would have been happy to have had the Democrat Debate in Ann Arbor where the U of M is in; Washetenaw County 50 miles from Detroit and 45 miles from Flint.

The "white" poor experience can be even bleaker. Rural poor are isolated as far as any type of social services and transportation assistance.

he was trying to point to police racism and a broken criminal justice system's treatment of blacks, he concludes his answer with that summary. it wasn't necessarily about poor people.

his overall point is he wants to reform the for profit prison system and end institutionalized racism.
