United States releases information about Russian hacking
Interesting reading:
The U.S. Government confirms that two different RIS actors participated in the intrusion into a U.S. political party. The first actor group, known as Advanced Persistent Threat (APT) 29,entered into the party?s systems in summer 2015, while the second, known as APT28, entered in spring 2016. Both groups have historically targeted government organizations, think tanks, universities, and corporations around the world. APT29 has been observed crafting targeted spearphishing campaigns leveraging web links to a malicious dropper; once executed, the code delivers Remote Access Tools (RATs) and evades detection using a range of techniques. APT28 is known for leveraging domains that closely mimic those of targeted organizations and tricking potential victims into entering legitimate credentials. APT28 actors relied heavily on shortened URLs in their spearphishing email campaigns. Once APT28 and APT29 have access to victims, both groups exfiltrate and analyze information to gain intelligence value. These groups use this information to craft highly targeted spearphishing campaigns. These actors set up operational infrastructure to obfuscate their source infrastructure, host domains and malware for targeting organizations, establish command and control nodes, and harvest credentials and other valuable information from their targets. In summer 2015, an APT29 spearphishing campaign directed emails containing a malicious link to over 1,000 recipients, including multiple U.S. Government victims. APT29 used legitimate domains, to include domains associated with U.S. organizations and educational institutions, to host malware and send spearphishing emails. In the course of that campaign, APT29 successfully compromised a U.S. political party. At least one targeted individual activated links to malware hosted on operational infrastructure of opened attachments containing malware. APT29 delivered malware to the political party?s systems, established persistence, escalated privileges, enumerated active directory accounts, and exfiltrated email from several accounts through encrypted connections back through operational infrastructure. In spring 2016, APT28 compromised the same political party, again via targeted spearphishing. This time, the spearphishing email tricked recipients into changing their passwords through a fake webmail domain hosted on APT28 operational infrastructure. Using the harvested credentials, APT28 was able to gain access and steal content, likely leading to the exfiltration of information from multiple senior party members. The U.S. Government assesses that information was leaked to the press and publicly disclosed. Full PDF If any of this is true... This is staggering. |
Great read thanks! :thumbsup
DT supporters won't read it, or believe it, unless DT tweets it. 140 characters is digestible for his base, anything more and it's liberable bias. :1orglaugh |

Imagine for a moment the US intelligence agencies do just this, and the public accuses Trump of more or less working with Russia? Sounds far fetched? Where is his wife from? How many business interests does Trump have in Russia? How many people in his new administration have direct ties to Russia? Holy shit this is going to be fun. |

In this case intelligence will leak like a leaky boat to congress & the MSM, and they could start working against the POTUS. 2 years until Dems take over and real investigation begin, until then will be this Mickey mouse bullshit with GOP congress doing light "investigations" and stonewalling until they push their agenda, than 1 1/2 years they'll start warming up for the expected takeover. I just read the whole thing -- what a joke.
The people hacked fell for spearfishing sites. This country is in trouble if our government workers and political operatives are this l4m3. Time to send them to IT boot camp :2 cents: AI and big brother may become necessary. |

Even McCain just said: McCain Doubts Russia Affected U.S. Election McCain in Lithuania: He Doubts Russia Affected U.S. Election--But Wants Sanctions Ps: same McCain said that Russians hacked into his campaign in 2008. So nothing new, yet libsters are trying to present it as it is something new, brought to you by evil Trump, lol. Anti Obummers in 2008 were not crying about that like you anti Trumpsters. |
I am pretty sure our intelligence agencies can leak such information, but would they?
This is very, very upsetting for me. Jason Chaffetz was so concerned about a potential email security issue with Clinton's email but isn't even remotely concerned that Russia has improperly influenced our election. This is absolute proof that Congressman Chaffetz was less interested in securing classified information, and was only interested in political attacks. The Republican party cannot just brush this off. This is just fucking insane. |

The point isn't Putin picking the winner, it's Putin hacking. Like Putin doping 100% of his Olympians. They were banned because he cheated by doping, not because they won or lost :thumbsup This is how Putin is fucking things up for Russia for years, stupid petty shit to get an edge. |

The GOP is party above country, this is clear. This is their last blast because the next two to four years their nasty underbelly and corruption will be exposed in a way never seen before. |

You implied that DT supporters would not like to hear that DT was elected by the help of Russians etc. Like I said, McCains campaign was also hacked and it is nothing new, why would suddenly DT suppoerter "would not like to hear it"? Rhetorical question... |

We are lucky to see outside the box, others, not so much :thumbsup |
Kind of ironic that Trump made a big deal out of Hillary's server being not secure but then blows off Russian's hacking US targets. Also rather amusing to see the simple minded Trumplets repeat the same brainwashed talking points they are told to with out having the intelligence to think for themselves.
mineistaken can't stop making excuses.. Typical brainwashed dolt.. |

Watch, it will all be Obama's fault :1orglaugh |

Now we have proof that the Russians attempted to influence an American election and the only response the Republican party has is "meh, no big deal". Bullshit. This is a huge deal. |

How gullible are you people?? Talking to you Bladewire and Crockett and Rochard. If you believe Russia "hacked the election" or tricked America into voting a certain way, you're mistaken. If you believe Hillary should have won even though she gave weapons to ISIS, killed the Libya peace deal & Gaddafi over a personal vendetta, ruined the middle east, created an international refugee crisis, and stole the election from Bernie Sanders with massive fraud, you're mistaken. Do you clowns even read wikileaks? Or was that "doctored by Russians" as Donna Brazille claims? :1orglaugh

Did I even read wikileaks? No, of course not. It's impossible to verify. I have no idea what is real on that site or what is fake. |

I am not a Clinton supporter. The person I wanted to vote for was Republican. I only voted for Clinton because she was (much) better than Trump. This isn't political for me; This isn't "Our side lost so now we must save face". This is about another country directly fucking with our elections. How is it that Jason Chaffetz was so concerned about silly emails and a terrorist attack, but isn't interested in this at all? He is obviously nothing short of a traitor. |

Anyone in our government who is not at the very least demanding an investigation into this is a traitor in my book. |
This is just a fishing expedition. The Dems want wikileaks to spill the beans on the leaker before Obama leaves office just in case it's not who they originally thought it was > Seth Rich.. So they will keep ramping up these claims over the next few weeks hoping wikileaks gives them something more to chew on.

Finally, yeah, we do know the source of the leaks- it was our own agents at the NSA and FBI, who have everyone's email that ever gets sent. It was revealed by the former Deputy Assistant Secretary of State. Watch: |
What did the hacks reveal that changed how people voted?

How are we forgetting that we "hacked" and evesdropped on Angela Merkel and Lula, among others? This is what governments do.
This is like pointing at someone for speeding 5 miles an hour over the speed limit and saying they were "speeding to exfiltrate information". I believe in building a strong democrat party but this is more bullshit: 1. Recount 2. Electoral 3. Russia All bullshit, and it won't work. As pointed out above, Trump supporters don't care, and he won't either. Governments spy, it's what they do. Did we think the 10,000 person Russian intelligence unit was for show? Putin RAN the KGB. The fucking CIA created the garbage known as "modern art" in an effort to win the cold war. Russia and the US lied about everything, and between them they have enough nukes to wipe out humanity. Move on you lazy dummies. |
At least Hillary didn't win.

This is what Russia did, it wasn't a simple case of tit for tat information stealing which all govts do, it was direct interference in US election. That is why it's a bigger deal and will cause the US govt to seek reprisals. Everyone knows we hack each other for information, this was not that. This was on the level of saying taking out a power plant.. It was a actual attack not a "cyber" attack. |
