I saw Chris Matthews on Colbert last night. He worked as a speech writer for President Carter and was there during the transition. He said the day of the inauguration is very strange. Moving trucks pull up and you pack your stuff and leave. A huge crew of people come in and remove everything including all the pictures of the President and his family and they replace them with pics of the new President and his family. He went on to say when they are done with the job it is like the previous President never existed in the house and feels like the new one has been there forever.

Warmer oceans can result in longer, stronger storms, flooding, etc. Hot weather is already blamed for deaths in the United States each year.

CO2 in the atmosphere, in the natural balance, is normal, natural, and beneficial. It's good for plants and helps keep the planet at a nice comfy average temperature.

The problem is TOO MUCH CO2 (and TOO MUCH Methane and other "greenhouse gasses"). Too much CO2 reflects some heat of the planet which normally escapes into space, back towards the ground, quickly increasing the average temperature of the planet. We are tipping the balance and upsetting the Natural ratios of gasses, temperatures, chemicals etc of our planet, and that is the problem.

Best then to spend the billions and trillions on cleaning up the actual harmful pollutants in fossil fuels. CO2 is not a problem. All of the CO2 contained in fossil fuels used to be in the atmosphere. We are just putting it back where it belongs.

If the oceans are warming then they cannot absorb CO2. Not from the air at least. Warming oceans actually release CO2. That's actually where much of the rise in atmospheric CO2 has come from.

CO2 levels are far nearer to 0 than at almost any other time in the geologic record. For most of history they have been much, much higher than now. Why do you assume that almost deathly low is normal while higher is abnormal?

Again, current "average" temperature is well below what it has been for much of the geologic record.

It cannot radiate heat back towards the ground because that violates the law of thermodynamics. It can radiate heat into the cooler atmosphere but that just leads to more convection which helps move heat out into space. The Earth is not a glass topped greenhouse that physically traps heat. The atmosphere is fluid and dynamic and it is not a closed system.

Climate is a description of long-term weather patterns while weather is used to describe the short-term conditions.

Examples:

If the weather is consistently hot and humid then it would be considered to be a tropical climate. If the weather was consistently cold and snowing it would be considered an arctic climate.

A weather forecast is not the forecast of the climate but a forecast of conditions that may change from day to day or even hour to hour etc.

Therefore, weather change is the short-term change in conditions. Climate change is a change in the prevailing weather in an area over a long period of time.

Yes that's right, but that makes the problem worse, not better. The ocean is the biggest warehouse of Co2, you're right about that. It's absorbing more and thats causing Acidification. But yes maybe if it gets too warm, it will start releasing all of its CO2. Acidification may go down who knows, but that will mean alot more CO2 in the atmosphere, making the planet warmer, won't it?

Yes that's true, but there are other forms of extreme weather such as heavy rains or extreme dry heat and drought. Look at what is happening in Texas... And besides, I think what we should be looking at is the Average weather. Just because there was a dip last year doesn't mean things are ok.

That's impossible. Plants and all creatures breathe out CO2. Vocanoes sprew it and other greenhouse gasses like co2 and methane, and of course all mamals fart out methane. Where did you read that CO2 is the lower now than its ever been?
