Would you kindly rate my website ? :)

Hello guys, A few months ago I started working on a website called HardPorners. It's basically a feed scroller with short porn clips organized in categories, with attached links to the full video on major websites (you can have multiple links per clip).

I mainly focused on code optimization, design, UX and responsiveness. I know it's not that common in the adult industry so I said why not ? Its made in JS with SSR optimization to improve the SEO + performances.

Currently I consider the website to be "mature", even thought there is still a lot of work to be done and i'm still adding new features on a weekly basis, like the upcoming ability to favorite categories, and show a user personalized feed with only the categories you favorited. I have quite a lot of categories with many niche one as well.

For the content, everything is automated, a horde of crawler bots are seeking and retrieving it on social networks, along with the full content's url.

Speaking about revenues, I've been messing around integrating ads from Exoclick there and there for fun, but it's not a priority until I reach more traffic.

I'm now looking for ways to attract traffic, so if you guys have suggestion on how I can do this / improve the website, I take it. I currently have around 3000-5000 unique daily users without having any real partners / link exchange being done. I'd say most of the traffic come from the US, and is 70% mobile 30% desktop. I really spent time to make the mobile experience "app grade" so users really enjoy it.

The url is "hardporners.com"

Thank you for your feedback

PS: I'm a senior web engineer but a total noob in the porn industry. So bear with me :)

As I business model, I can't really speak to it, but as a consumer, I like it and I would probably go there for a quick wank.

The only suggestion I have from a usability standpoint is I think the categories need some organization. Either alphabetize them, or use some sub-categories to clean them up. That many tags just randomly running down the left side is pretty messy and hard to get around.

Thanks a lot for the feedback :)

As a body of work, I think you've done a fantastic job. I haven't checked out the site on mobile, but it looks and feels very nice on a desktop.

I don't particularly like the dual scroll - one on the categories and one on the main body. It's not intuitive.

I'm glad I visited the site because I found this gem:
https://hardporners.com/content/310857

mrw_x 07-16-2020 05:26 AM

Hello RazorSharpe and thanks a lot for the feedback :) I was uncertain about the second scroll on categories. When viewing the website on a tablet, it fallback to one single scroll. Maybe this is the way to go with desktop too !

Glad you found the gem but this looks like regular fucking to me :upsidedow :upsidedow :upsidedow

You'll fit in well here if you think that's regular! :)

celandina 07-16-2020 07:30 AM

Not so kindly ! Just another tube with stolen.....pardon me.... user generated content... :error

.....and even lazy to steal it. Has the thievery automated so :321GFY

Besides the above, the most frustrating in the layout is that you have a scroll from hell to find anything...

... and where are your DMCA and 2257 links ? Also you need a search, so I can find my stolen content !

Sites like these give even the thieves a bad name !

mrw_x 07-16-2020 07:51 AM

Thanks for the feedback but I believe you got it wrong. Nothing is stolen here as the uploaders all accepted for their content to be reused by the website they hosted it on. I never reupload anything. Crawlers then look for the "sources" which are usually legal videos on major porn website.

Regarding the layout, it is made to be scrolled like you would do with instagram-ish apps. It's doing well for mobile (a huge part of traffic is mobile especially in Asia so mobile first approach make sense).

It's all automated because I know how to do it =), that mean more scalability but also that I will always have the latest trendy hot stuff, which let me more time to focus on my user's browsing experience.

Concerning DMCA and 2257, I'm working on it :)

Tjeezers 07-16-2020 08:07 AM

I give it a 7.5 out of 10

Good luck!

Sharon1974 07-16-2020 08:51 AM

Not bad at all!

mrw_x 07-16-2020 09:32 AM

It's always good to see adult related posts here, and even better that someone has actually created something and posted about it, but please stop jerking off about what a trailblazing genius you are.

You're scraping a few subreddits and leeching video clips from redgifs.com (directly, and not with redgifs.com authorized embed code). That's it. You don't need to be a "senior web engineer" to do that, you just need to be 15 on /r/NSFW and heard of Stackoverflow.

mrw_x 07-17-2020 12:25 AM

So sorry to disappoint you ! If you have something better I'd be glad to hear how I can improve !

MKA 07-17-2020 02:49 AM

Why would you redirect https://hardporners.com/ to https://hardporners.com/hot ?

I don't really know, is it bad ? I guess I could also simply set the "hot" page to be the index one indeed. Would that improve anything ?

:) A bit more than intended. I think threads about people creating stuff and posting about it are great, certainly better than something else about Donald Trump, but the impression I get from the OP is less please rate my site and more tell me how mind blown you are.

mrw_x 07-17-2020 05:51 AM

If this is how it was perceived, then I must apologize to everybody as it is not at all how I wanted to be understood. I am really a neophyte in the porn industry and this is the reason why I came to seek help here in the first place !

However, I am really looking forward to push further on the tech side, especially on mobile. Most tube website I see today are not responsive nor optimized for mobile. I want to aim for that traffic in particular as it is growing day by day. Mobile is harder than desktop, I feel like I really need to pay attention to usability and performances if I want organic traffic, as google will not like me otherwise. I you guys have any experience on the industry + mobile, then i'm all ears.

Regarding the content, nothing prevent me to buy some legit one later when i'll get some traction, but I have to begin somewhere.

Well, I don't speak for anyone else, and barely myself sometimes. I think I was a bit irritated at the dismissal of the comment about stolen content, since while that's not your intent - you just want to make a cool site to browse porn and make a bit of cash from it - it's a bit silly to say people have agreed to have their stuff on redgifs, when we all know there's no possible way to know that. I apologize too though, and hope that's a line drawn under it, because I hate being negative.

I've actually had similar thinking in a way, years ago I felt there was a weird separation between porn and non-porn. To me a porn site is a site with porn on it. There's no reason why the standards and techniques used in non-porn sites can't be used for porn sites, but I had the impression that these days, at least with major sites, which tend to be cam and tubes, that's what happened, and they were all well programmed, responsive, and all the jazz.

When you're talking about tubes and mobile experience, do you mean the majors or tubes that 'real people' have set up, possibly using a script?

There's no real excuse for a relatively basic site to not work everywhere in 2020, and I'm also with you in terms of preferring nice looking, stylish sites. And yet... while I like nice sites as a user, I'm not sure it's the best way to make money.

In my experience I think the best (performing) sites I've made have been the worst looking, just basic shit, not hideous but basically text with more or less one thing to click.

If you're an affiliate you want people to come to your site, but you don't want them to stay. And maybe if the site is too pretty people won't want to click the ugly ads. :upsidedow

You don't even need to do that, just use content provided by the sponsors. Your embeds are short clips anyway. But you're totally correct in terms or getting traction first, and I admire anyone doing stuff, and this is the kind of comment I prefer to make, good luck with it. :)

mrw_x 07-17-2020 07:20 AM

We started very badly but you actually ended up giving me the most detailed review so I really thank you for that !

I did not really get all of this affiliate stuff. Why would I not want people to stay, and to come again ? Maybe I'm missing something obvious here

EDIT: Regarding your question, I'm mainly thinking about the small tubes, which for many of them use old pre-mobile era scripts. But we can also talk about the industry's giants as well, what made instagram so successful against facebook back then ? Facebook was mainly made for desktop, instagram is mainly made for mobile (the desktop version even lack features agains the mobile one). Mobile utilisation is rising day by day, in Asia they don't even own desktop computers anymore (they mostly skipped this part).

Porn websites probably don't need to be perfect, as users are most of the time motivated by an instinctive pulse. But maybe if the user found nice content and had a nice browsing experience, they will come back and make it an habit.

"Your honor, I am not a thief, it is just that the uploaders gave me their word that the shit was not stolen, so I did not re-steal anything. I am just trying to make money of it. Yea, I have some crawlers and yes they break into some other tubes where they just borrow already borrowed stuff. So you see I am not doing anything wrong." :1orglaugh
BTW I am done here ...:2 cents:

@celendina Whenever a content is taken down on the provider (DMCA or anything), it is automatically removed on my side and marked as copyright claimed in my db.

As an affiliate a user staying on your site does not make you any cash. You want to get them to a sponsor and signed up.

I've yet to see a thread where he says anything positive so I wouldn't put much stock in what he says.

Mind you, he does have a point about the stolen content. He just goes about stepping on his soapbox in a very annoying, monotonous way.

Yet, time on site is an important ranking factor in SEO. It's hard finding that balance.

I'd say your site is a prime example of what's wrong with the adult industry, and the reason I left it in disgust years ago. I look at your front page, and don't see a clear niche. It's a little bit of everything.

And let me guess - you haven't made a cent.

Put yourself in a porn surfer's shoes. Why would he bookmark your site? Definitely not because he sees a clear and coherent niche, something that he's interested in.
He WILL bookmark your site though, for the plain and simple reason that he can get off on your front page, without clicking on a single internal or external link. Why should he click? He gets all the free porn he needs right there - nothing left to the imagination, no incentive to join any of the sponsors.

Why pay if it's all right there, for free?

mrw_x 07-17-2020 03:13 PM

Honestly, I have no idea on how to actually make money ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.

I added a few adds from exoclick "for fun" and I'm making something like 20e a months. (If you have any advice on how to optimize ads btw)

I guess when I have enough traffic I can still make money by redirecting to live shows or something. I saw that a lot of websites have a "live show" category doing that

You left the adult industry because people weren't categorizing stuff?

I wouldn't give the negative people here much thought. Have a plan, execute it, fine-tune it. If it makes money, keep doing it. If it doesn't move on to the next idea. Don't get discouraged or influenced by the negativity.

No one is missing the point but you. You ranting on a webmaster board is certainly not changing anything on the tube horizon. You've not made a single dent in their business by clambering up on your soapbox on GFY. Now explain to me again which one of us is stupid?
