I noticed about developers
 

They charge you cheap and get job done fast first couple projects

then as time goes by, it gets more expensive for the smallest changes and takes longer.

Is it just me?

They may have been desperate for cash the first job.

hey tube ace, so how do you know your developer isnt giving you bs coding if you dont know coding?

Do you hire another coder or security expert to go over code?

That is how bussiness model it is - you get cheap base, you pay more money for upgrades.

If they're doing it cheap for you they're doing it cheap for others, there then comes a time where you probably find yourself with maybe too much work so raise prices and work through the backlog.

How do you know it's a smallest changes if you don't know code?

Changing one line of code doesn't mean it's small.

Programmers are the flakiest fucks in the industry.

Most of them suck and will steal your money and give you nothing in return.

When you find an amazing one, put them on salary and don't let them go.

Pick one or more from list below :

1. After working for you, their bills didn't get paid. So either tell you bye, or charge you more.

2. They quoted their bottom price and you haggled it down further.

3. You changed the payment agreement in some way(amount/day/rate/method/taxes etc..)

4. They gave you lower priority because you did number 1, 2 or 3, or combination from above.

5. Times have changed, coding is more complex. (Responsive design is now required for example)

6. Inflation

actually, im paying this guy good on what he is asking for, I tipped him and gave extra money and letting him dictate the hours. So totally different from most of your options

I have no idea about other developers, just myself.

As far as pricing goes, I charge by the hour, not by the estimate. I do not raise my prices very often, in fact I have clients that I am charging the same hourly rate that I was charging 10 years ago. I like to reward loyalty.

How quickly a project/task gets completed depends on several things. First my work load. If I have nothing else on my plate at the moment and it is a simple task I might get it done over lunch. If I have a full plate then I base when it gets done on the priority of the project/task.

Emergencies always go first. Then it goes to planned projects where I have given the client a date. Then it goes to adhoc issues and tasks.

I also do get to take time off, regardless of my client's viewpoint that I am spending too much time on gfy or I shouldn't take that trip right now. I am not an employee. I run my own shop and I set the rules and priorities and run my business as I see fit.
