PROGRAMMERS: can you do this ??

... is there anybody that can code a software to batch check on domains pageranks. like I add a list of domains and the software tells me each domains pagerank ??

... too many have failed so far, so is it possible ?

funkmaster 07-16-2003 06:05 AM

... is that a no, or do you want me to spank you ?

bawdy 07-16-2003 06:07 AM

interesting i will look into it tomorrow

PowerCum 07-16-2003 06:08 AM

Yes, it's easy to be done.
asuming you are checking google PR

funkmaster 07-16-2003 06:11 AM

... yes, google PR and I donīt give a fuck if itīs a perl script or some windows application.

... how much do you want, how long will it take ?

PowerCum 07-16-2003 06:16 AM

I figure it will take about 1 or 2 hours of work, perhaps less if google pr can be consulted in the way I think it is consulted. If no, it could take a day as much.

Do you want it server side executed or for windows stuff?

And no, I don't code perl because I don't like it :)

I charge by project made, not by hours worked, so if you are interested, ICQ me (171216535).

I will take my lunch now, so I will be for an hour or so offline

goBigtime 07-16-2003 06:19 AM

This'll be good. :1orglaugh

... thatīs where stuff gets tricky, like I said many people failed so far and I guess the only way to to it is by decompiling the google toolbar source. (reverse engeneering)

Btw, a working private application like this would be valued (to some) in the high thousands -- probably even in the tens of thousands (to high priced mainstream SEO's anyway).

Here's a good start & end for you:

Right now it can't be done. Google's API doesn't support the return of PR. The one real Google tech I talked to didn't think it would ever be available within the API since Google's PR is proprietary.

http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=e...ublic.web-apis

Try a search for pagerank.

Luc 07-16-2003 07:00 AM

it can be done, but not in 2 hours or even a day like the
other guy said.

something like this would take at least a week and you'd
have to either not sell it at all (use it for yourself) or sell
it high.

google will sniff out mass queries in a day and then you'll
be doing check/2seconds tops, if that.

good luck!

Their TOS (http://www.google.com/terms_of_service.html) expressly forbids exactly this under "No Automated Querying".

And I'd be willing to bet they'd catch you in no time at all if you did have such a program...

kad 07-16-2003 08:36 AM

It can be done.

Dont even think about reversing the checksum algo, Ive tried and its hard :)

Im not available to work on it, but if you want to hit me up on kad at fakeplasticrobot . com, I can help you out with some ideas to run with.

edit: or you can ICQ me, ill be up for a couple more hours yet...

icedemon 07-16-2003 08:40 AM

Here is the type of url the the google toolbar uses to retrieve a pagerank.

http://www.google.com/search?
client=navclient-auto&
ch=0123456789&
features=Rank&
q=info:http://www.domain.com/

The problem comes with the ch= number changes through the toolbar. Unless you can some how get the number that is needed, it can't be done.

fiveyes 07-16-2003 08:51 AM

Here you go -

http://www-diglib.stanford.edu/~test...nkFetcher.html

Now, all you need to figure out is how to implement it. Start at http://www-diglib.stanford.edu/~testbed/doc2/WebBase/ and work your way through it...

gornyhuy 07-16-2003 08:56 AM

Keep us posted on this thing...

If nobody has a solution ready to sell for "tens of thousands of dollars" I'll take a crack at a little "out of the box" approach.

As previously stated, you'd have to be very careful to distribute your queries and cover your tracks to prevent them detecting your automated query engine.:2 cents:

icedemon 07-16-2003 09:11 AM

Here is a actual working link to what the toolbar uses to get the pagerank

Code:

http://216.239.51.104/search?client=navclient-auto&ch=5760693589&
Code:

dq=spider&features=Rank&q=info:http%3A%2F%2Fwww%2Espiderman%2Esonypictures%2Ecom%2F
I can't get the url posted here so it shows up right.

If someone can figure out how to get the ch= number, the rest would be real easy to work with. You could even use open proxy servers to cover your tracks and make it look like it's coming from serveral different people.

michaelw 07-16-2003 09:14 AM

Hello

Ive got software made already that does this

you enter in your urls (unlimited amount, just put em in a text file) and the program will grab the page rank

this is just part of my newest app, a program that checks for expired domains, grabs the pagerank and the dmoz category the url belongs to

If youre interested in the PR program, hit me up

I dont agree. Think about how many queries your machine makes when your surfing. As long as your not doing 100/s per second, you will be fine..

The CH is the key behind the google toolbar, and pagerank.

ch changes daily, google uses a very strong algorithm to make sure that people cannot grab pageranks without using the toolbar, but i found a way around it :)

I see a problem with your question...

As I understand it you can't really give a domain a Google PR because each individual page that is indexed has its OWN PR

Your main index page may only have a PR3 but some of its sub pages might have a PR4 or PR5.

Sure, but you would most likely link back to your [MAIN] page from that high ranking page... so if the high rank was a PR9 then the main might be a PR8 (search anybrowser.org for example)

So you could flag anything above PR7, then enter in the root domains & then flag any pages that are listed above the /root in google results.

ie: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&l...8&q=anybrowser

note: looks like anybrowsers "campaign" page finally took a beating... reads 0 PR here.

vending_machine 07-16-2003 09:42 AM

This page has a form (bottom left) that grabs the PR/LP:

http://bannedstuff.com/

However, it doesn't look like it's working that great anymore..

michaelw 07-16-2003 09:47 AM

ive already made an app that grabs the pr

hit me up!

fiveyes 07-16-2003 09:57 AM

Well, the google toolbar does automatically update itself and it seems the checksum algorithm did, in fact, change at least once before (and, with typical google humor, you'd still get results when you used the old codes, they just weren't the correct results :) ).

There was a program once (about two years ago) that calculated the checksum. It was named "PRMaster" but I doubt you'll find a copy of it unless you went around to some warez sites and trusted what you found there. Good luck with that!
