Northern California is VERY nice (pics)

For those of you who do not live in California, I'm sure you have a certain pre-conceived notion of what California is like. Hollywood would like to have you believe all of California is like LA. That is not true at all.

There is no place I'd rather live than Northern California. We have beautiful mountains, waterfalls, incredible lakes... I could go on and on about the beauty of Northern Cal.

And the beaches up here are nothing like what you see on the movies.

Here are a few images from Northern California. All of them are located very close to where I live:

Northern California is beautiful. I just can't stand the cold. I'm in San Francisco where the weather is pretty consistant. I do wish it would get super warmer in the summer but at least it's never super cold nor does it snow either.

I could never live in the snow. Visit yes, but live there I couldn't.

Awesome pics btw :thumbsup

Vanilla DeVille 03-22-2004 09:36 PM

Where exactly is that? I'd love to visit ... LA is so .. hrmm grey :)

The Heron 03-22-2004 09:41 PM

Except for the fact the damn ground tends to shake on occassion it's not a bad state to check out. I wouldn't live there though since I prefer my house to remain standing.

Za Ha 03-22-2004 09:42 PM

WOW, that waterfall almost looks fake.

JesseJimmy 03-22-2004 09:46 PM

I lived in California for 34 years. In fact, I was born there. Being a native for that long of a time should make my opinion count for something.

I agree, the scenery in California is great. Especially, the National Parks. But, the state is a mess, politically as well as socially. The electric power struggle is a joke. I think Arnold is in over his head. Unless he starts using his power to control the greedy corporate constuants and cut the bullshit redtape and terminate all the fuckers who rape the state, it will all go to hell.

California is the most powerful state because the population has a massive sub-conscious imagination. A lot of innovations come out of CA. because I believe the people's mind state is different from the rest of the country. They're also mostly crazy! Which is good and bad. The state is practically a country of its own.

I'll tell you this, if there's a big earthquake hits along the San Andreas fault line, the whole state could fall into the ocean. Know this, the land mass is located on shelf off the continent.

If this thread gets more messages I'll speak more of the state.

I'd much prefer earthquakes to Tornados.

Anyway, over where I'm at there has never been a strong quake.

NaughtyJenn 03-22-2004 09:50 PM

that waterfall would be perfect for a shoot...

If you draw a horizontal line above Redding on the map, all the way across California, and then you drew a horizontal line across below Chico on the map, those pics would all fall in the area between the two lines.

Over here in Chico it gets over 100 degrees in the summer. And then up at my house we get 6" to 36" of snow in the winter. But I live 18 miles East of Chico. Chico never gets cold enough for snow.

Ic3m4nZ 03-22-2004 10:00 PM

Those views are really nice.

Exactly... so it gets super nice and warm in the summer but the trade off is that it does get really cold in the winter. Might not snow exactly where you're at, but your still close enough where it's far, far colder than San Francisco.

My ideal place is somewhere like Hawaii or Florida where it's warm all year round :thumbsup

I'm just a pussy when it comes to the cold though. But as far as beauty goes, Northern California Rocks!!!!!!

Regardelss those pics are stunning!

Earthquakes aren't all that bad. They're like roller coaster rides. Too bad so many people freak out when they occur. The local authorities can't do anything about it. Why do so many people call the police when they happen. What the fuck are they supposed to do.

I've been in many of them. The first one I can remember is the Sylmar quake. Now, I live in Florida. So, I guess hurricanes are on the list here. I'm kind of looking foward to be in one. I'm not a sadist or anything like that. I just want to feel the planet in a different manner! I used to love the thunder and lightning strorms down in the desert. They were fabulous. Nature gives me such a rush when she decides to let us know that SHE is in control. Remember the last part of the movie 2010. "We're just tenants on this planet; what would happen if the landlord decided to give us all notice! :winkwink:

Actually, Chico is never colder than SF. When I leave my office in Chico for SF I always bring a sweater even if I don't have to wear one downtown Chico.

cashman 03-22-2004 10:13 PM

They got really good weed too :glugglug

Interesting. I've never been to Chico but just figured it was as cold as the rest of Northern Cali.

Now you got me wanting to check out Chico, lol

How far a drive is Chico from SF?

JesseJimmy 03-22-2004 10:22 PM

Here's a picture of the San Gabriel Mountains in L.A. What you see on the top of the mountain are the radio and TV antennas. To the right of the picture (which is not seen) is where the Mt. Wilson Observatory is located.

I can get to San Fran from downtown Chico in about an hour and a half to two hours. :)

KRL 03-22-2004 10:35 PM

Northern California is beautiful. But all those gorgeous mountains in the background are like big zits on the face of the earth and one day they'll pop and the ground will rock.

I'll stick to my earthquake free Florida thank you.

Are you talking about Chico in Southern California? Is there another Chico in Northern Calif?

I didn't realize there was a Chico in Southern Cali. We're talking about Northern California Chico where Donovan lives.

I hear that KRL. Headed your way. It's not so much that there might be an earthquake as the weather though. The beauty of Northern CA can't be argued, but Souther FL has its scenery too. Beside the babes that is. The drive from the mainland down to Keywest is breath-taking. OK, no mountains.

Donny 03-22-2004 10:45 PM

The area where these photos were taken are between the two lines:
