Ricky Williams wants to play football again!
http://www.sportsline.com/nfl/story/7769927
Does he really miss it? IS it due to the fact he has to repay 8.6 million dollars to the Dolphins? Will he give up weed and other drugs? Will he be as good as he once was? Lots of questions going around. How do you think the NFL will handle this? Will he get some special treatment since it is well known he has minor mental issues |
After the statements he's made in the past, I'd say it's pretty clear he's being forced to play. Lame, but maybe next time he won't have Master P negotiate his contract.

Great sig BTW :1orglaugh

He has said a lot of things in the past that have not made all that much sense, so we shall see what really happens! |
The real question is if you are a Dolphins player do you even want him on your team after the shit he pulled?

i think he was stoned when he retired, and now he's not and realized how dumb a move it was. LOL |
The 2002 NFL rushing champion stunned the Dolphins when he retired just before training camp in late July. Steinberg declined to discuss his client's change of heart, but on Sept. 24, Williams was ordered by an arbitrator to repay more than $8.6 million to the team for breaching his contract.
A Dolphins source, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the team's understanding is that Williams can't play this year because of his drug-program violations. |

He may not miss the season! |

Look at the Ravens Jamal Lewis is going to be gone for four games and they won't be that down on him. Ricky has some mental issues, you need to understand that first |
As a miami fan I would welcome him back with open arms, we need all the help we can get down here. 0-4 is simply embarassing.
Unfortunately my hunch is if he comes back he'll be traded immediately. |

meanwhile we gave up two first round draft picks for him, if we trade him now we'll be lucky to get anything back. In case you don't keep up on Miami we're on our 6th running back this year. the guy was cut, then signed to the practice squad and is now our starter. We need Ricky. |

interesting, Ricky has demanded an answer within 2 weeks. That would be just before the trade deadline..

I am a Dolphins fan from way back. My wife and two sons love them as well. I want to see them win as much as the next guy really, but I think him coming back to the team would mean not only are they playing pathetically this year, but they would LOOK twice as desperate and pathetic then they really are.
This is a bad year for the Phins, but I think it would look better to go 0-16 with some intergrity, then to cow down in desperation and bring this worthless piece of flesh back on the roster. It's not like if he comes back now the team would make it to the playoffs or anything. They'd blow with him or without him this year. I say make him pay back the 8.6 Mil. it'll help his recovery and provide him an excellent oppurtunity to reflect on his descision making process. spaz |
The worst scenario is the coach and GM trading ricky for more mediocre players when all they are trying to do is save their jobs.

Imagine if he comes back and they still lose. Or even better, he causes them to lose.
|
HOPEFULLY, he'll come back to the dolphins so we can trade him for another solid runningback and other solid players. God knows we need a bunch!
He's a fucking idiot. He's lost so much credibility in this league. EVERY team in the nfl will think twice before picking someone as unstable as this fucking guy. Outside of the recreational drugs he does, he takes medication daily for his anxiety disorder. This guy is a mental midget. He's running back to football so he doesn't have to declare bankruptcy as a result of paying the dolphins back $8.6 million. |
The guy submitted his retirement papers and went through that whole process. He should have to sit out a mandatory minimum of 2 seasons to give him time to think.
Where's accountability these days? Pathetic. |
he needs money to buy more weed
fuck-up |
Williams is one of the stranger athletes out there. He must have always been high on interviews.

Maybe his mental problems drew him over the edge. He made a few fuck ups, people made errors in judgement all the time and don't get that much heat for it..
Look at Michael Jordan, he retired from the Bulls after winning 3 championships in a row. Then came back a couple years later and no one cared. Dom Hasek retired from Hockey, yet came back and everyone was happy. Star players always have other options to weigh out, but when they come back most are welcomed back with open arms. For Miami fans it will be simple, if he rushes for 100 yards and two td's they will cheer and say thank god he is back, if he fumbles and rushes for 50 yards, they will say what were we thinking go smoke more weed you loser. The way he plays will determine how most fans look at him. |

Ricky Williams bailed on his team right before the start of the season. Thats entirely different then MJ. |

ricky needs to talk with the RAIDERS ...he even said that's where he'd wanna be...

you guys are overlooking the reason he left. Besides the pot and all that other dumb crap he said.
The current coach is a joke he can't run an offense whatsoever. All he ever wants to do is run the ball, run the ball, run the ball. Meanwhile without an offensive line they can't get anywhere. Now coach promotes his friend as an offensive cordinator and once again they try to run the ball. Ricky is sick of it and didn't want to be injured. Think thats an cop-out? All of our other running backs are now on the sidelines injured. Our newest starter came from the practice squad. Those who want him traded are simply seeking revenge. Which I understand as well. The guy left us high and dry. But think rationally here for a minute, whos gonna give us anything for this guy? We spent two first round picks on him, I highly doubt anyones offering anything close. |
the way I see it is that he is now forced to play. Because of his fucked up contract he only made 6.6 mil during 2 seasons with the dolphins but now has to pay them 8.2 so he has to pay back more than he made. That's his own fault for having such a fucked up contract. But I can't see any way the the dolphins take him back. They are better off losing all their games this year, firing the entire coaching staff and taking a running back in the first round next year than taking him back after he turned his back on them.
I can see how he could come back and play for another team that needs a running back like my Raiders. I think players on another team would give him a chance but the players on the Fins won't but I won't be surprised if he gets a 2-3 year contract and then quits as soon as he's made enough to pay off his debts and have some to live on. |
our first round pick will be used for a new quarterback. :thumbsup

Thats all he has to do. The rest is out of his control. Show up and run with the football, that is as complex as it needs to be |

I agrree with you Ricky just wants to be involved with a team that has an entire offense, he can't handle or do it all himself. Plus with his mental condition he does not want to be in the spotlight that much. A team like minesota or philly would be good for him as they have a lot of stars and it woun't be all about him |

Take his stoner ass back and trade him |
