way more buisness threads on the front page and generably a lot more information flowing..now you have to sift through searching for buisness(when the search does work) and countless threads of unimportance,and idiots only posting for sport and guys taking pics with each other(mad homo):Oh crap wheres the turn back button when you need it?

I'll agree as much as I can as a n00b. Sometimes I wish it was easier to find the business threads to see what's going on.

The funniest part to all of this is the idiots whoring out their signature for $50 a month. When signatures were first sold recognized posters got $500 to $3000 per month for flying a sig. All the idiots saw this and jumped on the bandwagon with their unknown sig for $50. All this did was mark them as a sigwhore forever in this business and they'll never be worth over $50 a month. They could make more than that selling porn straight out of their sigs. :1orglaugh

Legendary Lars kicked it off with the $1k - $2k sig payments in 2003. This board hasn't been the same since.

GFY was better before buying sigs was allowed.

I remember it being a big deal when boneprone hit 6K posts, and it took him quite awhile to do it.

Now kids sign up and hit 6K posts in their first month. It's fucking ridiculous

In defense of the less business-like threads I'll say this.... you can only talk about business so much, then you start looking for other things to talk about with your fellow webmasters. There have been at least 1000 threads titled "where to buy traffic?" and "I need a new host" and "How did you get started in the biz?" etc etc etc

There was bound to be a higher number of "fucking around" threads than biz threads at some point.

Yeah, it was a lot more businesslike, but it was still full of useless posts made by people... but they did it for FREE then!

True as far as it goes, except that it isn't only the business posts which have become fewer and harder to find. With so many people posting for no other reason than to get views, it's just as difficult now to find any entertaining posts which have the slightest trace of intelligence or humor.

GFY is for surfers and wanna-be webmasters. There are other boards that are for business. If you are one of the few serious webmasters still around here I'd guess that you are just here for entertainment.

well seeing you have 100 posts you currently are making 1 cent a post

once you break 1000 posts you make 5 cents a post, but only if you break 1k posts in the next 48 hours (should be easy for you)

then, after youve hit your 1k posts and you are making 5 cents a post.. when you reach 3k they bump you up to 20 cents a post for your 1st 1 thousand posts after that + 23.99 a week just for posting.

It was a better board before... But it is still entertaining with an intermittent gem of business.

All the important people are still here. They seem to lurk more than post these days but their eyes are still on this board.
