Just remember Will that if it hadnt been for my continuous bumping of these threads, you may have got a lot less support. I kept the day and night crowds of gfy informed of your mission.

I am ready for round 3 with this adware shit. Anyone else ready ?

Brujah 10-18-2006 09:32 AM

god job Will, maybe you should be in PR

Keith Smith 10-18-2006 09:35 AM

Thank you, Will. You may have created some adversity which although may look bad for a few days has increased our affiliate base by 10% as well as increased our surfer base. Our surfers love our tool bar and it's ease of use. Again, a big thank you from Zango, Inc.

Oh come now, this is GFY. You must have an increase of at least 47% for anyone to believe you.

seeric 10-18-2006 09:39 AM

great. all that does is educate more people that there are ways to steal traffic from other people. lol. it should be given no press and a way found to rid the earth of them.

The only way for this to hurt us if for more people to get infected. If people start buying traffic from companies like zango all that does is drive up the cost for the traffic and makes their campaigns less profitable. Either way the traffic is stolen from me whether they paid .04 for it or .40 for it.

I am sure some people stopped promoting installs like zangocash, I know there were people who using it that had no idea they were shooting themselves in the foot. You would have to be a complete moron to promote an install like that and also be an affiliate to other adult sites or mainstream for that matter, now that you know how it works.

I am sure some surfers read these articles and are now educated. I would hope the majority of the adult industry is now educated and sponsors now have to be accountable if they support it.

Maybe a little bad came out of it, but i think the good FAR out weights it. It is better then the alternative of doing nothing, saying nothing.

Nothing like fake nick shills coming on to try to cover things over.

Will, keep it up. I have some ideas...

VexXxed 10-18-2006 11:50 AM

Will,

Once you have a domain/page setup with extensive info on how Zango/adware effects affiliates, what sponsors accept adware traffic, which sponsors actually bid on adware traffic, etc... let me know as I would like to link to this info from various webmaster related sites. Your efforts have been great but I would need to have links to like 30 gfy threads to push this information home, currently.

Zango parent company 180solutions was in hot water with the Justice Department earlier this year. The Federal Trade Commission received a formal complaint from the Center for Democracy and Technology claiming that the adware maker continues ?deceptive and unfair? methods in distributing software that generate popup ads.

In the complaint, the Washington, D.C.-based nonprofit group told the FTC that 180solutions has ?remained brazenly reckless in its efforts to get its software on users? computers.? The CDT said it expects injunctions and penalties against 180solutions through the FTC. The company is best known for a 2004 incident in which it was accused of stealing commissions from its own affiliates.
I agree with Vex a site needs to be set up about all this. Even links to where people can contact the DOJ and FTC concerning this whole mess.

Is there a "black list" of affiliate programs using it?

It's only a matter of time before companies like Zango end up fucking the same webmasters who are fucking us now .. while they laugh all the way to the bank.

It's the best part, the part that people like Sexsearch and AFF haven't figured out yet: Zango will fuck you over too for 1 cent a click more. They don't care, they will rape your traffic and fuck your business up unless you pay them MORE, MORE, MORE!

You would be better off getting a linen service in New York at this point.

matter of time?? they already shifted the blame on this whole thing on AFF. So they are already fucking their partners. If zango would not have tossed the hot potatoe to AFF, AFF would have likely never replied to the "speculation" that was going on here. When Zango point blank said AFF was running those campaigns and basically over writting cookies (AFF said this is not how it works) then AFF has no option but to address this issues.

Zango is in this for zango, they dont care who they step on, take sales from, screw, whatever.

I just registered the domain " spywareblacklist.com " i am busy as hell with my own stuff but will try to get a site up in the next week or so. I am open to ideas / suggestions. Right now I am thinking, covering both "adware" companies and how they work, articles and news about them and also sponsors who support them and how they deal with it. Especially pointing out the sponsors who accept this type of traffc.
Have some helpfull links, some rss feeds, maybe blog or comments area. ??

Careful with that. That site could easily become under constant DDOS attacks, hacked, and you know the rest. There are already sites that do that, in mainstream anyway. Contact them, maybe you can form some type of partnership and share info. Make sure you're 100% covered in the eyes of the law, because those scums have no scruples but they have a lot more money than you do.

Ok so who wants to host it ? lol

I host all my stuff in house but i don't mind paying $10 or whatever it cost a month to someone else if you really think it will be under constant attack. I am confident my network can handle it but why deal with it if you only have to spend $10 and not have to waste time fighting the possible attacks.

hosting suggestions ?

SmutGiant 10-19-2006 12:41 AM

looks like a great start for a crusade with a worthy cause to me...

keep up the great work everyone! :thumbsup

Troels 10-19-2006 01:28 AM

I'll send traffic, bump like crazy, threaten, blacklist, whatever it takes.
Did sexsearch ever answer?
I think it's time to begin a shit campaign with one sponsor.
