Epassporte Hacked - Money Stolen Internally

Hi all, just checking in to see if anyone else with an epassporte account has had their account hacked and money stolen? I lost $500US to a fraudulent internal transfer last week to a user called "tHobman_j". It pissed me off cause I thought Epassporte was one of the more secure and reliable processing options.
The most dissappointing thing however is that even though I noticed the transfer within a couple of hours of it happening, Epassporte were extremely slow in reacting to my enquiries and phone calls and even slower in reacting to the issue.
Consequently, it appears the thief has got away with the cash as stated below!!

"As previously stated, no funds are available for any recovery. ePassporte
can not held liable for any p2p transaction losses that are comparable to
cash transactions. This is manifested in our Terms & Conditions.

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any further questions.

Sincerely,"

I have asked to be notified of the results of their investigation but my enquires have been unanswered for the last 4 days.

I kind of expected a little more from them....

Why is that?

I don't know about your accusation of it being an inside job, but it is beginning to appear that they do have some security issues.

That is why I keep my balance very low. I hate when I do deals that require I hold large sums of epass money for a while.

RayBonga 02-24-2007 03:04 AM

That really sucks

themonk 02-24-2007 03:04 AM

sorry to hear that

macker 02-24-2007 03:08 AM

It's beyond me why they haven't introduced another layer of security to their system.

Reak AGV 02-24-2007 03:09 AM

This is happening a lot lately, time to move away some funds :)

deve88 02-24-2007 03:12 AM

Sorry, didnt mean it to appear that it was an "inside job". It was an internal transfer between accounts. An Epassporte account holder who got into my account and stole the money...
I expected a little more means that I though there security would have been better and their reaction quicker and more effective.

HomerSimpson 02-24-2007 03:23 AM

this really sucks!

tenderobject 02-24-2007 03:30 AM

thats bad :(

their slogaw is "the safest way to pay online". goodthingthey still have keyser!

Kimo 02-24-2007 03:34 AM

i hope you recover your funds

darksoul 02-24-2007 03:41 AM

they could easily add the e-gold browser security type
and 90% of this problems would be solved.
Seems a 5 liner piece of code its too much trouble for them.

you can leave your 2 dollars on the account pimp

:winkwink:

thonglife 02-24-2007 03:56 AM

Epassporte fucking sucks. Never had any of these issues with paypal or netspend accounts.

smuttybox 02-24-2007 03:59 AM

all the best man.

The Ghost 02-24-2007 04:21 AM

Always sucks for this to happen, but there isn't a more reliable or widely used option for online payments than Epassporte (for adult). But with all financial things, once something goes wrong it is probably the worst thing that can happen, especially with no recourse. It does sound wise to keep as low a balance as you can inside.

And anyone using paypal for adult has no excuse to complain when their account is frozen for 6 months for just the hint of dealing in adult.

DaddyMustang 02-24-2007 05:19 AM

this is happened for some time with the p2p fraud, they should work on the site security i think

foxxx 02-24-2007 05:39 AM

like really regardless of adult or not, its a service, money has been stolen, they should be reacting, investigating and working this shit out. it's their biz to secure money and transactions, they should be getting their fucking act together before they loose all their clients.

gecko 02-24-2007 05:45 AM

damn sorry to hear that

Exoclick 02-24-2007 05:53 AM

Is this really an epassporte issue? Or someone sniffed your connexion or something and got your password?

I'm really surprised Epassporte would not at least open an investigation for this... and give you quick answers. That's pretty scary.
All the credit card entities do chargebacks in those cases and have insurances. Even Paypal can cancel some transfers.

Poon 02-24-2007 05:57 AM

sorry to hear bro

TeenCat 02-24-2007 06:16 AM

so big drama for 5posts member. and many about clients side epass security was told before, search and think if you do the best for your security

aroy3719 02-24-2007 06:20 AM

Thanks for the heads up. Why not use e-gold?

ffmihai 02-24-2007 06:35 AM

can he/she cash in 5k from atm?

Farang 02-24-2007 07:37 AM

damn, seen so many similar threads, not cool

:disgust

pocketkangaroo 02-24-2007 08:33 AM

Seems like we have one of these pop-up daily. The lesson is that you leave funds in your account at your own risk.

dready 02-24-2007 08:35 AM

All ePass has to do is limit admin access by IP and/or send email confirmation links of any transfers. Why they haven't implemented any simple measures like this is beyond me, and shows a complete lack of concern.

CaptainHowdy 02-24-2007 10:57 AM

Scary shit...

RawAlex 02-24-2007 11:05 AM

At this point, you can assume that keyloggers and whatnot are specifically targeting Epass and paypal. Work double hard to keep your PC clean.

Without competition, they don't have to give a fuck about their clients, as long as it's convenient for them and they aren't held accountable for any losses.

fetishblog 02-24-2007 11:41 AM

And the moral of the story is, use the ATM and don't leave large amounts in your account. :thumbsup

4Man 02-24-2007 11:47 AM

That realy suck......:(

Subway 02-24-2007 11:47 AM

How can they say they are not responsable if you didn't get the money.

You are the one that may transfer and nobody else, if they do so, they are wrong not you.

Go to court!

This statement speaks volumes about how ePassporte feels about their own security system. If they believed in it and stood behind it - they would put a guarantee on your funds....just like banks do. Since they don't guarantee that your funds are safe, that should tell you how they feel about their own security system.

maybe but for adult it's still the best... :2 cents:

CyberHustler 02-24-2007 12:47 PM

I said this before... but this whole shit is starting to sound like a conspiracy. Who is epass's biggest competition? I think they're sending agents...

Hmm you have 5 posts since 2002 and 2 of them are in this thread, I am not accusing you of anything but it seems awfully strange that you would announce this thread on a forum you havent used since 2002?

alredy1 02-24-2007 01:21 PM

epass's reaction is very strange.

Someone hacked my account and stole $5,000 about a year ago. They send it via some account gift bullshit and epass said they can't do anything..
It was sent to another epass account so they surely could.
Pretty fucked up..

They had my fax in some paper and they kept saying "we didn't get it" when I faxed it over and over. I send faxes all day long so I know they are BS'ing.

FUCK YOU EPASS
