AdPatron 04-16-2007 09:24 PM

Is that what they call a land line? They still have those?

Tempest 04-16-2007 09:33 PM

Yep.. Where I live (small town) the cell reception sucks and given how often the storms take out the power, it's the only way I can make calls during that time (like to find out when they're going to fix the problem).

jonesonyou 04-16-2007 09:34 PM

I still use my home phone... It doesn't get all hot when I talk on it for long periods of time.

:2 cents:

Mr Pheer 04-16-2007 09:36 PM

got rid of mine over three years ago

Sly 04-16-2007 09:36 PM

Yep. I don't have a cell. :-)

JP513 04-16-2007 09:38 PM

I do, but it's not a traditional line; it's VoIP. I find it useful to have another calling option for 3 reasons:

1. My cell phone (Sprint) doesn't always get great service.

2. VoIP direct international dialing rates are much cheaper than cell phone international plans, especially to foreign cell/mobile numbers. I don't like jumping through calling card hoops. Calling cards suck!:321GFY

3. 3rd benefit is the speaker phone is better quality:thumbsup for when you have to call places that require u to hold, which I hate!

I also have a USA cell and a foreign tri-band for travel, but even though it's not my main phone contact anymore, a land line still has its place.

If you think you're too cool to use a land line: :321GFY

Home phones are more dependable... :2 cents:

I agree home phones are more dependable, unfortunately you have to be home to use them...

DWB 04-16-2007 09:53 PM

I stopped using the phone about 4 years ago. Now I only e-mail, IM and answer to smoke signals in the sky.

LiveDose 04-16-2007 10:04 PM

Home and business still on landlines. When cell phone techology is perfected (especially indoors) I'll drop my landlines. Nothing more annoying than dropped calls and dead air...

I haven't had a land line in over 4 years. With 1000 anytime minutes, unlimited long distance, unlimited nights and weekends... seriously, what is the point.

After Shock Media 04-17-2007 12:40 AM

Naja-ram 04-17-2007 01:53 AM

hzoltan 04-17-2007 01:55 AM

Of course...

How else am I supposed to leave the Matrix?

Sexsitesurfer 04-17-2007 02:00 AM

I have VoiP and landline phones at home.

Why not? Costs f*ck all and doesn't hurt to have the option, as previously mentioned, in case of emergency. The VoiP and Skype are mainly used for international calls.

The landline is mostly for abusing telemarketers! ;)

Yep although I only use the phone about once a week, never use my cell, it's there for the school to contact me, nothing else.
People ring me, I never ring them.
