I think the line is drawn because T.V. wasn't as interactive or useful - and therefore, not as time-consuming as the internet currently is.

I mean, I know people who spend 100+ hours a week on their computers... I'm sure we all do, if we're not one of those people ourselves.

The scale of lethargy is a lot more pronounced with computers than it ever was with T.V., I think.

There are entire cultures where it's not unheard of for people to spend nearly every waking moment in front of their computer monitor.

I'm fine with it - I mean, everyone's the captain of their own lives - and, hell, we'll figure out a way to turn a buck off of them all, but - on a large scale - there is an issue there, I think. And while "banning the internet," is obviously not the solution.... maybe EJ's just trying to raise awareness, while generating a little publicity for himself?

I say we start by taking down any sites where Elton John albums or show tickets are sold.

Shutdown the Internet... I would guess everything you hear about ol' E.J. is publicity in his book, including this post.

I doubt he actually considered it possible. Of course the idea was sensationalized by whoever printed it.
