LOL the difference between California and Louisiana
People at Qualcomm stadium are offering Yoga, acupressure, AA meetings, kids are finger painting pictures and hanging them on the walls.
In Louisiana during Katrina you get raped or murdered by either the citizens or the police....LOL |
the fire demographic is mostly "Rich, White, & Republican"...you'd better believe the government is gonna take care of them!!!

Doesn't it suck when stereotypes actually fulfill themselves?
I wonder how many stores have been looted from this fire? Anyone who's there confirm this? |

California will be back good as new on a few months.. While New Orleans will stay as is for a long time to come...
But... There are differences other than the money people... Yes.. they all, or most have adequate insurance and will rebuild immediately, but there are also the cities/politics that will see to it that things get done.. Many of the folks in New Olreans had no such insurance.. or the right type.. and the powers that be in New Orleans are mostly crooks, with no desire or ability to hurry things along.. It all can't still be thrown back on FEMA.. |

The people at Qualcomm also have electricity, plumbing, food, water, supplies, medical staff, and logistal help. And they aren't trapped.
Not quite the same situation in the least. |
The roads are still open for emergency crews to get supplies and help where they're needed. Nobody (as far as I know) is stuck on their roofs, waiting to be rescued.
|
At least the people in California had some warning that they should evacuate, not like Katrina. Oh wait, they were warned to leave, thats right.

Great comparison. A few homes burned down and only three roads closed and it's equivalent to Katrina.

The burn different things in the south.

There were some looters, 2 18 year old kids caught trying to loot some beer. other than that I have heard of nothing. |
The reason Katrina was such a disaster was in large part because all of the roads and bridges that led into the city were destroyed or underwater, and there was no way to get supplies to the people at the superdome or convention center.
A fire is alot different than a flood. You can't really compare the two. |

Maybe fulfillment is for those who seek to be fulfilled to justify their own feelings. |

CNN is reporting 1 million people are going to be evacuated.

You may have overlooked this.....I was watching CNN and noticed that a number of the "services" being offered had fees involved with them. The news may have shown the services but they failed to mention what they cost. They are showcasing the signs mentioning the services but avoiding signs with the prices on them which can still be seen in the background. |
I don't know if it's a fair comparison. Now if you had to evac the entire city of SD and then cram a bunch of them into Qualcomm, maybe that would be closer.

The red cross had thousands of bottles of water and food three miles away but the state wouldn't let them in to hand it out. |
Look at it this way.. The Cali housing market is on fire..

I agree it was a total clusterfuck and I'm amazed that we didn't recall our governor over the way she handled it. That being said, you can't compare a fire to a flood the way it's being done here. They're not the same thing. |

A friend lives in downtown SD, which is really not affected or in danger. He says they did close the 5 down for a bit this morning when the fire jumped over to the west side on Camp Pendleton, but they reopened is what I heard. |

Im guessing both. You can't compare the two. Really fucking stupid on your part to try. Moron. |

You guys are really fucking ignorant. Evacuated doesn't mean shit. What happened in New Orleans was because people were stranded with out living necessities nor any type of law or order... for days. Try this for a fair scenero, how do you think the people would act if they couldnt evacuate their neighborhoods, the fire was blocks away and moving at them and they were stuck their for days with no food, water, police to maintain order etc... do you think they would be finger painting then. fucking morons. |
The people who were evacuated to the superdome were there for 6 days. No one was murdered or raped. There was National Guard their to keep order. It was hot as shit in there, wet and the plumbing didnt work, literally shit everywhere but those people did not act like animals. I don't think they would have given a fuck about AA meetings or Yoga or finger painting.

It's interesting to me the people making comments. I wonder how many of you have ever been in an emergency situation such as these? Having grown up in SoCal the fires are devastating - always have been and always will be. Think about it. We're talking hundreds of thousands of acres destroyed. So far, we are at about a billion dollars in damage. This has nothing to do with how rich or poor you are. If you knew anything about San Diego or Canyon Country or any of the other places, MOST of the people are hard working, blue collar, or middle class people. It is not cheap in any situation to replace everything in your household. It's even worse to helplessly sit by and watch your house go up in flames as some people have done.
You can't compare them except that both are equally devastating... :o( |

We put a man on the moon too, but we didnt do it in a couple days. not that I think it is any excuse for the govt not getting her quicker but i think your analogy it bad. It wasn't the act of doing it, it was the time frame that was the problem. |

equally devastating.... property loss = 1,000s dead. how stupid can you people be. |
Bush also knew that with Katrina there was no risk of Arnie driving a truck through the walls of the white house firing an uzi.....now there is.
|
As stupid as you are, will, for continuing to make comments on subjects you know nothing about and have never lived through...???
Funny - comment all you want. You're only making an ass of yourself. As I said - both are devastating... Never said they were the same... |
