i've never dived.. cant get over my fear of sharks... atho i used to surf avidly, it was actually while surfing that my fear got even greater having numerous instances of sharks following me on waves or popping up next to me etc.. have you ever come across a threatening looking shark accidentally?

Bojangles 04-11-2008 02:08 AM

Awesome pics.

Almost all shark attacks are either because a diver got too close and made the shark defensive (stepped on it, surprised it, etc) or the shark mistakes a person for its normal food supply. Surfers kinda resemble sea turtles from below, and alot of times divers are mistaken for seals. Usually a shark takes a bite and lets go when it figures out we dont taste like a turtle or a seal.

There are maybe 100 shark attacks a year worldwide. Your chances of being one of them are extremely slim, you have a much better chance of dying in a plane crash.

The day before these pics were taken, a 16ft great white was spotted in the same area feeding on a seal carcass. Didnt stop us from diving.

G.A.F 04-11-2008 03:26 AM

Great pics!
I dived once in Acapulco. It was great. The water was hot, so we didn't need gloves or neoprene suit. Just our bathing suits.
Water was cristal clear and full of starfishes and beautiful colourful fishes (can't tell their names).
I'd dive again any time, but not in shark areas though. :1orglaugh

Freaking awesome pics!!

Nikki_Licks 04-11-2008 06:09 AM

Awesome pics :thumbsup
I am sure it is more impressive being right there, face to face with all the sea life.

Did you see any huge sharks while you were diving? I know there are allot of sharks around Catalina and that would be the one thing to really spook me.

the alchemist 04-11-2008 07:40 AM

Very cool pics :thumbsup

Xrated J 04-11-2008 07:56 AM

nice pics, ive been wanting to dive, but havent had enough time to go get certified yet :(

HotMeghan_GL 04-11-2008 08:08 AM

those pics are amazing! looks like fun

pornguy 04-11-2008 08:13 AM

I have not been in some time. But plan to start again when my son is old enough to learn.

Shey 04-11-2008 08:18 AM

Wow that's awesome! I've never dived, silly too as I've been living in the Philippines for over a year. I've been snorkeling here and the sea life you can see is amazing.

I'll have to make it a MUST to get certified before I leave the Philippines, it's so cheap here compared to say US hehe.

Tat2Jr 04-11-2008 08:18 AM

Cool pics, but no thank you. I stay on the boat during snorkel/diving trips. I have a crazy fear of natural bodies of water. Love pools - hate lakes and the ocean.

PaulB IYP 04-11-2008 08:36 AM

nice pics dude
reminds me of my trip out to the great barrier reef
i too came into contact with a shark, however it was about a 7 foot long reef shark, was an amazing experience; especially since the dive leader said we probably won't be seeing any sharks as they tend to steer clear of the reef because of the tourists. It was the number 1 question everybody had on their minds...lol "are we going to see any sharks?"

Gabriel 04-11-2008 10:09 AM

Nice, where did you guys dip at?

Seal Rocks on the south end?

Sysgenix 04-11-2008 10:35 AM

Nice pics. Love diving.

HAPPYPEEKERS 04-11-2008 10:51 AM

amazing pics!

Missy 04-11-2008 10:58 AM

What kind of camera do you use? I've always wanted to get a really good underwater camera (or casing), but I don't dive often enough to justify the investment. Don't you need a good color filter lens on it too? Details, please... Those pics came out awesome, especially for being at 100 feet!

Catalina is on my list of places to dive. I don't mind a random shark here or there... I've run into a few reef sharks, but I gotta admit, if I were to run into a great white, I would freak the fuck out!

sniperwolf 04-11-2008 11:22 AM

wow, awesome pics man! :thumbsup

love those sea creatures! there were great dive spots also here in our place but afraid to go on diving for some reason...
