The world might end in August if some scientists are correct...
|
uh no...
|
That's some scary Sci-Fi channel shit.

Oh well. |
i hope we will not all die

Sounds like they are building this big machine that they don't really know what can do, yet they are allmost sure it can't be harmfull.. Well, won't be anyone left to sue them anyways i guess *lol*

Damn, they are close to Time traveling aswell !!
Quote:
With the rings being 27km.. those protons are racing at 297.000.000m/s speed of light = 299.792.458 m/s ..so getting pretty damn close to time traveling here ! Now having two objects hit each other that are traveling close to speed of light, in oposite directions... Don't know if that sounds like a good idea :Oh crap |
I guess now is as good as time as any to throw caution to the wind and start barebacking every hooker I can get my hands on, spending all my cash, and eating all the pizza and ice cream I can find.
Oh wait, I already do that. Maybe I should become a monk. |
Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn ;-)
But I don't think so .. didn't they stated that some US-Researchers already doing these kind of experiments? ciao Andreas. |
damn... thats a good reason to stop working and party until august.
|
Look at how small nuclear bombs are compared to the damage they cause. Who would have thought that was possible?
|
So, can I blow off sending in this tax payment?
|
not until 2012 :D
|
Youtube some videos on string theory, you will get the jist.
|
If I recall correctly (and I think I do), this isn't the first carse where scientists are building something like that. Obviously I am completely uneducated in these matters, but I'm referring to something that raised very similar concerns around 9 years ago.

all i know is i heard about it in Lehmans terms and it was mind blowing. i really think they are onto something here, it is insane what the human mind is capable of. isnt a graviton supposed to be the "anti matter"? |
fools.
I have a video of the president addressing the nation just before the first atomic bomb test in the Bikini Atoll. He had to tell people that the bomb wouldn't blow a hole in the ocean floor and that all the water wouldn't drain out. You morons sound like the morons of the late 40's. Seriously, how dumb are you? http://www.bikiniatoll.com/Newsweek1946.html Regarding the Atomic bomb test in the Bikini Atoll... July 1, 1946 - ONE MAN FEARED GRAVITY would be destroyed and everything would fall up. Another prophesied that when the atomic bomb went off at Bikini, all the water in all the oceans would be turned to gas, automatically dropping ships to the bottom. Another thought the Operation Crossroads bomb would blow a hole in the bottom of the Bikini lagoon and let all the water in the sea run out. Earthquakes and tidal waves were commonly expected, and in Portland, Ore., a taxi driver was stoically awaiting a painful fate from huge radioactive waves which would "peel his skin like a banana." People went to fortune tellers to ask: "Where can I be safe?" A Man from Penns Creek, Pa., wrote President Truman: "Supposing everyone and everything were destroyed excepting, say, yourself. After all, no one really knows. What a responsibility. P.S. suppose even you went along." July 1 was the date set, and it was growing closer. All the apprehensions were not barroom bombast. The religious dug up scriptural quotations: And the second angel sounded, and as it were a great mountain burning with fire was cast into the sea, and the third part of the sea became blood. And the third part of the creatures which were in the sea and had life, died; and the third part of the ships were destroyed. Revelations 8:8, 9. |

this is not even close to the atomic bomb and no there is no way for them to tell exactly what will happen on this one i think. this isnt a weapons test we are talking about discovering what the big bang really is. |
this thread is honestly a great showing at the amount of clueless people are on gfy, none of you maybe one person in this thread has read anything to do with this and yet everyone is commenting.
we are talking about the greatest discovery IMAGINABLE, we are talking explaing "God" and you people are talking about atomic bombs and nuclear bombs. even if the world does blow up what can you do? isnt mankind all about discovery? dont we thrive as a species to "know"? |
Ok, how exactly and how fast could these black holes theoretically kill us?
Even though my avatar may say otherwise, I don't have much knowledge on such things... sucks actually, I should buy some books... |
it reads like the start of movie, where very bad things are going to happen.

Hmmm I might switch from revshare to pps then....

And so you see my comparison was not that this is the same as an atomic bomb, but that the reactions of the people are LIKE those of the people of the 40's. They are just as scared of this technology as they were of that technology. In fact, in that article it says this, "Critics of the LHC filed a lawsuit in a Hawaiian court in March seeking to block its startup, alleging that there was 'a significant risk that ... operation of the Collider may have unintended consequences which could ultimately result in the destruction of our planet.'" In the article I linked to people had the same feelings. They felt gravity would be destroyed and we'd all fly off the planet. However in the article I read about the LHC they mentioned a lot of theories, but none referenced GOD or time travel. |

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Large_Hadron_Collider http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Safety_...adron_Collider http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Relativ...g_the_pu blic "Although the Standard Model of particle physics predicts that LHC energies are far too low to create black holes, some extensions of the Standard Model posit the existence of extra spatial dimensions, in which it would be possible to create micro black holes at the LHC[24][25][26] at a rate on the order of one per second. According to the standard calculations these are harmless because they would quickly decay by Hawking radiation. The concern is that among other disputed factors, Hawking radiation is not yet an experimentally-tested or naturally observed phenomenon.[citation needed] The opponents to the LHC consider that micro black holes produced in a terrestrial laboratory might not decay as rapidly as calculated, or might even not be prone to decay.[citation needed] Otto E. Rössler, professor of theoretical biochemistry at the University of Tübingen,[27] calculates that Earth accretion by a micro black hole could take as little as 50 months.[28] According to CERN, physicists in general do not question the assumption that black holes are generally unstable and those few who have pointed out issues with Hawking radiation were only attempting to achieve a more rigorous proof of it.[29] CERN states that, wholly apart from Hawking Radiation, micro black holes are expected to rapidly decay, based on CPT symmetry, through the same interactions by which they are produced.[5] CERN further argues that even if micro black holes were created and were stable, they would pose no credible threat to the Earth during its remaining 5 billion years of existence" |

and i am not talking about God, the theory is a "God" theory, one that explains all. they have a theory which they believe will explain how the universe really works, this tech would help change this from a theory to fact. i dont care what the article said this is to do with string theory, it in not my fault that you do not understand what that is. i can find you some great videos i watched on it and you would understand why it is the same deal. they are trying to collide particles together to see if there is a graviton created, graviton in which can spread between multiple dimensions. we are talking about basically bending the universe. i am no stephen hawking so i cant go to deep into it. |

This isn't some bomb we're dropping, it's literally figuring out how everything in the universe works. What it is made of. How it came to be. As Metaman stated, it's a God theory. The impact of the test should be taken serious, as something that effects our universe like this could have monumental impacts. Not an impact where we have a big hole in the ground, but an impact that we literally destroy our universe. That everything here becomes a nothing. We hear people talking about how they play God. These people may actually be able to do it. |

but i was pretty sure that the graviton not only had to do with dimensional travel but also limitless energy if we were able to harness it. that is a broad statement so dont take me on it again my memory is shaky on it i will have to find where i read it. |
pocketkangaroo we will have to pick up this discussion another time this theory insanely interests me, but i am going out for a night of drinking and i hate being the drunk dude trying to explain string theory with another bunch of drunk people around trying to understand it. :1orglaugh
