Do you get these weird icq messages that seems to come from a bot from Russia

I have a good anti virus and I use Trillian and everyday I get these messages. The other day, I got bombarded from a dozen messages like that all at once. I must be infected somehow but was wondering if some of you experienced it and if there is something I can do.

I block the message every time and never click on the links but it's kinda scary.

I need to find a good antivirus that can help us get rid of it.

I get them, and there is nothing on my puter. They are bots that do it.

you won't be able to protect yourself by any antivirus, this is a bot that is trying to either steal your ICQ number or invite you to a site of some sort. Just ignore it

I just installed ICQ for the first time yesterday and that was the first message I got.

hell, ICQ is a virus.

I get at least one a day. Fucking annoying.

I got one a few years back that cracked me up:
"Hey member at me, I old girlfriend, we drink vodka and make out in dad car.. look at new picture (Enter spam allowed dating sponsor here)."

Now, my icq is down. I really hope it is just temporary :Oh crap.

I get them all the time and after a few years now at least 50 a day - I stay on away or another field to stop seeing them as often and only check in to see if anyone is msg'ing me. Starting to use skype more now

I just click the Report Spam button and close it.

I get those. I just block the user/bot. So far I think I've blocked 100+ of them.

I get about 10 a week. Its annoying as hell.

It's not just spam because most of the time there is no link and it doesn't really mean anything, just a bunch of (?**&?&?*?8?&%$*"#$%45###)

yup i do the same. report spam and close. i only started getting them recently.

mine started just after the new year, i get probably 20 a day now from random uin's. i'd received them before, but they're much more intense in their frequency now. it's a daily go around.

if i don't get 10 per day, i check the news for disasters

at least once or twice a day... it started happening when I registered here

a couple a day, I have no idea what the point is, it's just jibberish

Are you using the latest version?

2001B is more susceptible to this kind of spam. Upgrade to 6.5 and it should dramatically decrease.

Also, change your personal settings to not allow urls/links from users not in your contacts list.

Also, there is a link on the message window, report as spam.. click this and eventually the sending icq# will be terminated.
