Atleast some progress for some, it's good to hear good news for a change i mean with the HIV thing could care less about the moon.

Sarah_Jayne 09-24-2009 03:30 AM

I just saw that on the news. Let us all hope it as much as a positive step forward as it sounds.

DWB 09-24-2009 03:30 AM

AND... it reduces the risk of infection by 50%!!!!

Kman... did you hear that!?@?

Just seen that before, well done on there first time there as well...

MrMaxwell 09-24-2009 03:33 AM

So if it doesn't encourage people to engage in twice the unprotected sex they would have... it'll be great

Davy 09-24-2009 03:34 AM

We need viruses like HIV to keep people responsible. :2 cents:

How has that worked? Cases of STDs which condoms don't protect against are on the rise in western countries.

People are still sleeping around. Condoms and increased birth control for women, just means we see the 'evidence' less.

WHY can't people read?

A little nuance would be nice, wouldn't it?

1. First off: it was an American military program that has been developing this in Bangkok along with the Thai ministry of health
So it wasn't the Thai that made the vaccine.

2. waterMOLECULES have been found by 3 seperate studies. MOLECULES, so not puddles of liquid water

:thumbsup

Your statement would be true IF HIV manifested itself straight away and in a clear way.

The fucked up thing with HIV is that you can be infected for years without a single clue.
People don't get scared until they actually notice something is wrong.

That's the way it's always been.

Seriously, you'd think this would be common knowledge in the western world by now.

I'm shocked at this comment!
Especially on this site where we are in PORN production and sales, etc... :warning

Everything on here has to do with sex & most of it is unprotected sex!

Take it away from the general populous just for a sec, and think of all the people you promote putting their lives at risk with each movie they shoot, having unsafe sex for entertainments sake!

Yes they get tested regularly, but did you know that HIV can remain dormant for months... even years after infection?

To have a vaccine like this in the industry could be great!!!

Back to the general population now:
Keeping people responsible would be nice, but if they haven't protected themselves thus far, I doubt they'd be lining up for the vaccine anyways?

You're either safe or your not. :2 cents:

Yup You Got It!

I would think that we, those dealing with sex as a business, would be more educated than that!

and least I'd hope :Oh crap

In a way, yes. But seeing this vaccine only works in about a third of the cases, you'll have to be carefull still. I bet you there's going to be people with a vaccine like this that will start doing riskier stuff now because they'll think they have a smaller chance of getting infected. You know how stupid people are sometimes.

Well, again, they'd probably see it as an oppertunity to push out the boat even further than they already have. So until there's a 99,9% vaccine, one should be cautious.

It can limit the infections but only if handled properly.
People with brains: great
People with no brains: no matter what, they'll fuck up.

Very very nice!!! Hungarian online media just started to push this extremely good news. You'll see, this is just a start. To be honest I don't give a fuck to the effect this does on our industry, but much more about it will save the lives of millions of children in Africa and Asia.

kmanrox 09-24-2009 05:21 AM

this takes the fun out of it!!! THIS IS SHITT!!!!!!! DONT TAKE THE RISK AWAY!!!!! ASSHOLESSS

pornguy 09-24-2009 05:26 AM

Several cures have been found over the last few years for HIV and also for cancer.. But they have to be tested.

Someone, I think China tested one. the guy had HIV one day, and a week later it was gone.

NinjaSteve 09-24-2009 05:27 AM

I just saw that Nintendo slashes Wii price by 20%!! The news just keeps rolling in!

People w brains etc...

My Point exactly!!!

Those with brains have already been practicing 'safer sex' those with out... well... They're the ones who are most likely to be infected aren't they?

To be honest- I am a 'real life' swinger and in being around that environment, I've come to see that many people don't take the proper precautions. Or they think they can tell that some one is 'D&D FREE' just by their appearance/ demeanor.

Anyone who is mature enough to have sex, should know as much about the risks of it as possible. Weather you do it once- or hundreds of times, each time you 'bare back' there's that risk- even with condoms, they do break.

I think if this became available in the western world, it would make those who choose to be safer, all the more so.
And those who think they're 'sexually invincible' wouldn't even bother with it.

Stupid is as stupid does & those who have stupid their entire sexual lives, will remain to be so, regardless...

My motto is simply this:
"I live for sex- but I refuse to die for it!"
Be safe

16,000 volunteers, man and women aged between 18 and 30, spread over 2 provinces of Thailand were used in this test.

there's still Hepatitis C which is easier to transmit and as deadly as HIV (in the long run). i'd still not stick my noodle in any pot

Libertine 09-24-2009 07:05 AM

What makes this news incredible instead of just great is that it's a huge step towards a vaccine with a near-100% effectiveness.

It's comparable to one of the best ways of becoming successful in business: find something that works, then modify it to work even better and scale the hell out of it.

In this case, there is something that appears to work, so the exact mechanism can be studied and hopefully adapted in a way that makes it work for everyone. If this wasn't just a glitch in statistics (and it could be, alas), it means there will almost certainly be a fully effective vaccine in the next few decades.
