BVF 02-03-2010 10:53 PM

Once the movie is over, if you hear an eerie silence over the audience as they get up and leave, you know that the movie sucked.....I kind of liked it but I would rather have watched that at home rather than while on a date.

I'm just going to assume anyone reading this this thread has seen the movie, so SPOILER ALERT.

They explained how the world ended, not that it's even necessary. Did you need to know why the Vietnam war started in order to enjoy Full metal Jacket?

As for the plot holes, they kind of covered all of the scenes where you assumed he had vision.

When jennifer beal came to the door, he waited for her to speak before she came in -- which I thought was weird, but makes sense if you realize the guy is blind.

He backed up under the bridge before that first hand to hand fight, so he would have the advantage. How did he know he was under a bridge? There's an echo under a concrete underpass.

During the gunfight, he only shoots exactly where he hears the shot coming from.

So, to accept anything in the movie, you have to at least suspend disbelief that blind man can overcompensate his other senses enough to become ninja-like. Once you get past that, if you watch a second time knowing he's blind, it all kind of works.

...and the movie doesn't really take a side on religion. They show the cynical side, with Gary Oldman's character wanting to use it to control people for his own gain.

Eli think its the only thing that can bring humanity back together, so he protected it by memorizing something that almost no one else can read, unless they know brail.

It wasn't that bad. As someone who's not religious at all, I enjoyed it, mostly because i was really surprised by the big secret.

man i love movies.

i am a movie fanatic.

i own a projector, a balls deep system and blue ray. they are apart of my life. movies help me be creative.

i approach movies with an open mind and try to look at them from different perspectives. this movie i just could not fathom how someone could sit through it and leave the movie and fill like it was worth it.

literally i came back to my buddies place read reviews and i am PISSED OFF! and i like 99% of movies. or can at least find SOMETHING to leave the theater with. i feel like 3 years of my life were stripped off.

Sounds like someone needs to pop Spirited Away or Princess Mononoke into the BluRay and sit back with a stiff drink. :)

darksoul 02-04-2010 12:28 AM

You shouldn't be talking about movies son.

k0nr4d 02-04-2010 12:47 AM

I agree. Worst movie ever. I came out of there feeling like I just spent 2 hours sitting in church.

Varius 02-04-2010 01:15 AM

Watch "The Road" with Viggo Mortensen. That's how a movie like the Book of Eli should have been produced...

missyouth 02-04-2010 01:53 AM

Not really feeling it over here.

CaptainHowdy 02-04-2010 07:29 AM

FrozenJag 02-04-2010 07:58 AM

Break it down for me. How am I an idiot for understanding what a movie was about?

stever 02-04-2010 08:41 AM

i posted this a while back
hated the movie

lately big name actors have been failing in their movies
clooney in men who stare at goats
damon in informant
denzel in book of eli

just to name a few

ezgirl 02-04-2010 08:41 AM

Here is a clue - the more the movie is promoted the worse it is.

:Oh crap GOOD?

what the hell!

they didnt explain anything, all about a stupid book then ended it.
ya i get the "deep" message but it was so obvious from the beginning that it lost its point.

what kind of person carries around text that they have memorized when it can get them killed?
and why does the evil guy even give a shit, he already has all the power. to control the other 200 people on the planet? he has all the dam guns anyway.

KILL_FRENZY 02-04-2010 09:12 AM

:1orglaugh Yeah, I heard crickets all through the damn movie, and especially at the end

BAKO 02-04-2010 11:40 AM
