X boyfriend bought domain & is posting models info online
 

A model that I work with just showed me a domain with her model name and her X posted her and her parents real name /address and all of their phone numbers. What can we do to stop this motherfucker and get it taken down? Isn't it a crime to expose a model's real info online in order to hurt them?

Not being a jokester here, but honestly you should literally call the police and ask them that. Or a state attorney maybe or something. Or her lawyer.

It is illegal to purposefully give out peoples information with the intent to cause them harm.

So yes, you can call the police about it. Google the law, something like "legal to post peoples info" or something.

I would contact the host and see what they recommend. They might have to go through proper legal channels so they will tell you what to do.

I'm pretty sure a law was passed pretty recently over that MySpace death about purposely trying to cause harm. And that's what he is doing, it's basically a threat.

I think that with her being a performer, this would fall under anti-stalking laws.

Complain to his hosting and registrar enough and they might shit-can it just to avoid the hassle. Keep going upstream if you have to.

He'll probably just put it somewhere else, though.

Call, the police, and attorney, send an email to the registrar, the host, and to him where you write to him about who you have contacted.

There are different laws for famous people and us regular folks. That being said, I am not sure what he did is illegal.

It's a good question, unfortunately I must agree with the above post. Unless his intent is to harm an individual I don't think there is any law against posting personal information.

I'm not a lawyer though..I would contact the host regardless then maybe get some real legal advice...

Man that is SO fucked up. Do something! I'd start with the city or county attorney and the police and see what traction you get.

That sucks. Sounds like something more will have to be done to this guy to make him stop for good. He will most likely keep fucking around with her until he faces some real consequences.

Some states have civil actions for the publically revealing private facts... not all do though.

Usually contacting the host is enough. Try that first. If that doesnt work try talking to a lawyer and have him send a letter to the host and if that doesnt work, have him file suit. Usually once a lawsuit is filed the host will respond just to protect their ass.

wow that's low. Is he posting pictures of her? If he's not posting pictures of her, then you might have difficulties getting it removed.
If he's posting pictures, then goto the host they'll more then likely remove it right away.
The girl also can try calling the cops and getting a restraining order against him so he can't do it again.

realistically he is probably nothing close to being a webmaster. he saw a godaddy commercial and bought the buildawebpage kit. his page will never get any traffic, he will have nobody to backlink it to, and he will be invisible to google and the rest of the world. unless he is hellbend and is buying adwords and pushing traffic to his hate campaign i would leave it alone and let him marinate in his little personal 'victory'.

legally i dont think its a crime to post someones address and name. when pics go up that he didnt himself take with a model release then u can actually do something effective.
