I have read across the various boards that more people are splitting time between mainstream and adult, and either the EASE of the transition or the DIFFICULTY with so many more sharks chasing the same AdSense pennies.

i havent done any major corporate work since before 2000 but i am planning on picking up some mainstream projects this year. my reason is just to get some stress free hours of the day, rather than just dealing with porn scumbags all the time.

i did a few teaser projects and mainstream traffic generation is a breeze after spending a decade in porn.

I have... a growing part of my business is mainstream business. I have also tested a ton of mainstream products, programs, from ppc to mail..

It's easier to make money in porn, its easier to make it from multiple sources, its easier to build traffic, it's easier to explore and not get raped, it's all around easier in adult.

It's easier to promote your program/products in adult, to adult affiliates than it is to mainstream affiliates. It's easier to get those affiliates to try new sites and products.

The difference is when you find something that makes money in mainstream, it has a bigger chance of making a lot more money - at the affiliate level for sure.

Anyone wanting to go mainstream I would truly start with yourself. Brand 'you', your name.. be super friendly/helpful, well before you try to sell, build a following around 'you' and when it comes time to sell them, it will be way easier to move them around, do giveaways, and give you social/viral bumps when asked.

I hear you. My profit margins on my productions are still too good to leave adult. I really have no intention of ever leaving it. It will always make me money. Plus I enjoy shooting my own personal toe porns finances by the members and patrons. So there is no incentive for me to leave. Even if this industry crashed and burned, it would still be very profitable for me to still be in the markets I am in.

That said, I have dabbled in mainstream on and off over the years. I am actually looking to move up a few plans that have been on the back burner and test the water some more in 2010 to see how things go.

Most of my work is mainstream at this point. When I noticed things going downhill a few years back I decided to go more mainstream instead of coming up with something new in adult.

It is the old adult/online mentality. If you mention something, then by tomorrow morning you will have 1000 competitors overnight. Ya know... those who have the capital and time on hand to drop everything else they are doing right now, and who will somehow manage to do everything you are doing 100% and make 500% times more money.

As most people know, who've been doing this a few years anyway, you can give someone the exact blue print of everything you are doing, and they can still fail (or do better). There is always something missing. Whether it is the drive, consistency or endless other things in the equation.
