Have you ever been totally BORED and WORN OUT from working in this business?
I've been totally unmotivated for the best part of 3 months.
The World Cup hasn't helped make me knuckle down any, but it runs deeper than that. I guess I'm just tired of it all, sponsors that don't pay, sponsors that shave your balls, hosting companies that are useless, maintaining hundreds of affiliate sites, the tubes of course (who can forget them?) ruining ratios, search engines constantly working on their roller coaster algos. I worked damn hard last year and traffic has actually gone up across the board. Anyone else in / have been in this scenario? I have too much invested in my network of sites to just quit, I don't really want to sell the lot either. Burn out from doing the same thing day in day out for 8 years? Time for a month's holiday? What has anyone else done who has been in this position to beat the blues? Beer time. :Oh crap |
you need a vacation.
|
Yeah you need a vacation, it happens to all of us. You bust your ass all day and get tired of it all. Go to the Caribbean, somewhere sunny and just relax. It will give you new energy.
|
Yeah, my sister has the right idea, she's just got back from 2 weeks in Antigua.
I forgot to add, it doesn't help being sleep deprived, our 6 month old lad is teething something chronic. |
I guess everyone's tired of this bullshit. However I'm still hoping next year will be better. US government declared war on piracy so if all those f***ing tubes and file sharing sites were gone I think our business would be blooming again

I am super burned out nothing but bad news everywhere and all changes for the worse, not even sure what to work on since nothing seems to work anymore.
|
it happens all the time...
|
I have been totaly unmotivated for last 4 yours hehe. But what's man gotta do,man gotta do.
|
You need a holiday.
|
I was felling exactly the same way until I decided to try my hand at mainstream affiliate programs. Now I bounce from industry to industry and that helps fight the bordom.
Its also nice to see hard work immediately pay off in other industries unlike this one. |
I've experienced the same thing in the past.
here are some things that have motivated me: 1. Rent an office in a building with lots of other offices - having to get out of the house and seeing other people rushing about helped me 2. Spend more money, buy an expensive car, remodel your kitchen or something like that. The more i spend the more motivated i get. Sitting back and watching the bank account grow made me lazy. 3. Pretend you had to look for a 9-to-5 job. Look at the job classifieds. Go on a few job interviews. The thought of having to work for someone else makes me wanna puke and lights a fire under my ass. You need to remind yourself how good you have it. :) |
I never get bored in front of the PC. Never. I think there's something wrong with me :)

Never felt bored or worn out when I was shooting. Meeting new girls who got naked for you was always fun. LOL
Now I'm not working and at home recovering there are times I wish I could do more. |
yes sitting in front of a computer all the time can be worse than a fucking day job eventually. i can hear you. i had to focus on shit beyond adult lately to keep from going mad.

No, making money online is a dream come true. But enjoy your vacation, cheers. |
yes.... D:
|
I used to but now that I sorta got around doing money with less effort it's awesome!

Nailed it. Ty. |

I have offices all over. Check out http://www.regus.com, they have many offices world wide and you can even decide if you want 5, 10 or unlimited days of access each month and different price plans. There are usually nice young girls at the recepiton desk, coffee machines and open, fresh surroundings. You can have your own private office or work in an open office landscape.
Since I'm travelling a lot, it's really nice to always have a place to call home, which is nice and clean and just works. Printing, faxing, conference possibilities and much more. And you can either have a membership on just one of their locations or the one I have where I can walk into anyone of their locations world wide. |
Yes. And it was easier to shake off back when sales were plentiful. Nowadays, I just try to focus on mainstream more when that happens.
I do think that having an office to go to would help me immensely. |
The human mind needs change.
You can't keep doing the same thing constantly. |
burnout... ahhh my old nemesis. I get burned out hardcore on average of once every two or three years and it hits me hard. I will just sit at the computer trying to think of where to start but paralyzed by inactivity. I am fortunate in as much as I find it relatively easy to hit the reset and get back into things. Sometimes as little as a two day stretch of turning the computer off and not thinking about anything. Get me out of the house for a day and I get revved up and ready to go.
That is the absolutely best thing about my current situation. I work 7 days a week by choice and the guys I work with are flexible as hell. It actually makes me want to work more. But on any given day, if I feel sluggish and bored I know there is always a good race to watch on Sunday :) it's the simple things in life that keep us fired up and productive. for you it may mean a month off, for me a relaxing weekend and an exciting Sunday afternoon :) |
Thousands of years ago a half-naked starving man with an IQ of less than 50 trekked out into the cold winter and walked barefoot through the snow. A gigantic prehistoric bear attacked that man and the man was armed with nothing more than his walking stick.
The man fought and gouged the bears eyes, got bit and battered but actually managed to kill the bear with his own two hands. A year later he found a woman and got her pregnant and his child became your great great great great... great grandfather. So, tell me again how sitting in an air conditioned room with lights and wifi working on websites is wearing you out. For all the trillions of variable that had to roll snake-eyes over thousands of years just so you could exist for a short while... you owe it to that crazy ancestor who fought a savage bear with a stick AND WON to dust yourself off and get back to work! |
me too, i will watch out some banks to infiltrate like cashier :D , no money left in biz

actually, that is kind of depressing. |
That depends what you build and why you build it.
|
I suggest reading the 4 Hour Work Week by Tim Ferriss. I just read it and will be implementing a lot of what he talks about. Mini-retirements vs vacations, leading a mobile lifestyle and much more.
Good luck. |
Yea it happens. Just take some time off and leave the laptop at home. Relaxing and not thinking about building & maintaining will do wonders for you.
*I also have 2 kids under 2, so I know about the lack of sleep. :Oh crap Im looking forward to both of them sleeping through the night. Luckily we have family to ditch them with so me and the wife can get away sometimes. |
Sometimes I wish I had to peddle a bike in order to power my computers.... or I could work standing up, maybe while walking on a treadmill.
Years and years of sitting, just sucks! |

Scheduling it helps - makes me feel less guilty. When the Me Time is up then it's "time to get back to work", usually refreshed. And hey, did you want to talk to me via Yahoo? Got an email like that a few days ago and was confused. I'm on ICQ or, if it's important, I could go Yahoo. Let me know. :) PS - going to see a comedy show and laughing yer arse off is a great way to help burnt out. :) |

Take some time off with family/friends ... go down south and relax. Start drinking some high quality Italian red wine at dinner! :thumbsup |
Yes. I have felt that at different times myself.
|
Lots are saying that you need a Holiday and that is something that I dont totally agree with.
what I do and what lots of people do is find a way to shorten the week at some point. Make your Firday shorter so that the weekend starts sooner. Gives you a little more time to relax and the weekend does not seem so rushed. Or make Monday start a little later. Then every few weeks drop a day of work in the middle of the week. Yes take a vacation but also add this extra time. I know that normally I end up working 10 to 12 hours a day. so dropping a little on one day wont hurt at all. |

happens to me all the time...
then I take a day off, start a car and go at some new place on Danube, have some drinks, and just watch at the river and let it "flush" all the shit out of my brain... @Jesus H Christ: good tip... I'll try that too.. (fucking nice avatar!) |
