I have an ear infection, what should I do?
I hate going to doctors, but I think I have to bite the bullet now.
My left ear hurts, its swollen and I can't clench my teeth anymore. I've tried to ride the storm out and take antihistamines, but it doesn't appear to be working. Any suggestions from the GFY doctors? |
Go to the doctor.
|
go to the doctor, seriously Ive had alot of ear infections as a kid growing up. Go to the Dr
|
Well its at the point of Dr. now...
but before that hit, you should have tried a lavage and some antibiotics. |
Sound advice on GFY? Where are the guys telling me to put garlic juice in my ear then lick the underside of a flying cockroach?
|
I think rubbing alcohol helps...? Just a small dab on a swab?
|
Antihistamines are good against ALLERGIES
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Otitis_...s_and_symptoms If you have REALLY nothing else use a diluted solution of oxygenated water (10 volume water is too concentrated) don't put something that you can't remove. Don't use alcohol. |

Seriously though just go to the doctor there's a lot of stuff in your head you don't want getting infected. |
I used to get swimmers ear a lot when i was a lifeguard. I had drops i would put in my ear to dry everything up. This is the first time I've had it in a while... ugh the pain! lol

There's the real advice you were looking for. haha |
Take a very large sledge hammer and smash your left hand with it until you can't stand it anymore; hey it may not cure you but you will forget about the ear pain . . .
|
My mom, used to put a cotton wet with alcohol and leave it in my ear all day..
When we were little kids.. |
go to the doctor for antibiotics, and stop using qtips lol
|
Yeah get down to a Centracare at least, that can go from bad to nightmare quickly
|
Yeah, so now I've got some antibiotics, a z-pack I guess. along with some ear drops for pain. Hopefully I will be good to go come time to head south for the AVN show next week
|
if you dont like doctors then ask at the drug store
|
Get a blowjob, if it does not help; Go see the doctor anyway.

Ive had ear infections a couple times.
Cause: You are not getting your ears thoroughly dried after showers or dips in water. A huge amount of bacteria have taken residence. The yellow discharge is the body undergoing a battle to kill them. Treatment: You have to keep the inner ear dry constantly. (no new water in there) If it continues to get wet, you will not get rid of it. Once dry it will go away within weeks. If allowed to get wet it will take months. After 2 of these that went months I finally figured it out. Best bet is to dab your ears out with T-paper every time you get out of water or the shower. The inner ear can get wet 999 times without a prob but the 1000 time you get the ear infection and indeed they are hard to get rid of. Mainly because most people unknowingly cont to allow water in the ear. Good luck. :) I'll have my secretary send you the bill. :) j/k |
See an ear, nose, and throat specialist.

It depends a bit on the type and location of the infection.
If you have an infection of the outer ear, causing by liquid trapped behind earwax in the outer ear canal, you can often fix it yourself. Once home remedy that can work is using an eye dropper to drop warmed hydrogen peroxide into the ear. Warm the hydrogen peroxide to about 130f - letting a small bottle of it sit in hot tap water for 5 minutes is about right. You can also buy a small plastic tool that can be stuck in the ear to remove ear wax buildup. This works best when used when you first start feeling pain, as a preventive measure. You can buy lavage kits that contain little bottles of a stroner peroxide solution, and a little lavage bulb called an ear syringe, but in my experience a dropper with warmed hydrogen peroxide works better (it's milder) and is less irritating. Doctors will often use various tools to clean out the ear, sometimes a suction tool, sometimes just a probe similar to the plastic thing you can buy at the drugstore. |
You don't even have to go to the doctors...go to one of those minute clinics in CVS and Walgreens and they'll hook you up with what you need.

Put garlic juice in your ear then lick the underside of a flying cockroach!
Or just go to the doctor :) |
ear cones. seriously. they work.
|
What ever you do, don't go to the doctor. Use good old grandma's urine method. 5 drops in each eye and your ear is fine.
|
drink more to ease the pains... :)
|
When I was little, my mom would put sweet oil in my ear for an infection. But yours seems like it's past that point, so go with the antibiotics.

No more aural sex for you.

I had an ear infection last week. Lots of swimming led to water I couldn't seem to get out. I didn't go to the dr. Instead I mixed rubbing alcohol and vinegard together and dumped it in my ear three times a day, let it sit for 5 minutes, dumped it out, dumped in some hydrogen peroxide, let it sit 5 minutes, dumped it out, then followed the peroxide with the alcohol/vinegar routine again.
It worked. |

Stand on your head and fart 5 times while whistling Dixie

My grandmother had a problem with her ear decades ago and the doctor she went to was a notorious drunk. He poured a bunch of rubbing alcohol in her ear and she has had severe hearing damage ever since. Now that she is approaching her 80's she is almost totally deaf.
That is her story anyway, so I would exercise caution before dumping alcohol in your ears. |
