what's your problem with glen beck? is it his anti-government message or embracing values message?

aren't those his top 2 topics?

charlie g 08-31-2010 09:27 AM

I think his message is ok. I think HE is a clown.. an over actor and not really sincere. I consider myself a conservative. I like to listen to rush because I believe he believes what he says. GB, imo would say whatever "his people" wanted to hear. He comes off as whiny and phony to me.

Like the message, not the messenger.

Brujah 08-31-2010 09:30 AM

it's cause he's black

rhizome 08-31-2010 09:42 AM

um maybe just 'cause he's plain batshit crazy?
Better question, what is this board's fascination with him? It's worse than celeb adoration/hatred.

tony286 08-31-2010 09:43 AM

my problem is people dont see him as an entertainer but as a serious voice of the news.

dyna mo 08-31-2010 09:45 AM

from wiki-

Among his core values Beck lists personal responsibility, private charity, the right to life, freedom of religion, limited government, and family as the cornerstone of society.[31] Beck also believes in low national debt, and has said "A conservative believes that debt creates unhealthy relationships. Everyone, from the government on down, should live within their means and strive for financial independence."[32]

Beck supports individual gun ownership rights and is against gun control legislation.[33]

Beck believes that there is a lack of evidence that human activity is the main cause of global warming.[34] He also says there?s a legitimate case that global warming has, at least in part, been caused by mankind, and has tried to do his part by buying a home with a "green" design.[35] He also views the American Clean Energy and Security Act as a form of wealth redistribution, and has promoted a petition rejecting the Kyoto Protocol.[36]

IllTestYourGirls 08-31-2010 09:45 AM

He is not anti-government. He has you fooled right off the bat. He is a big government warmongering neo-con.

that's what i'd like to know also. all the negativity re; beck here when it seems to me he has a pretty good message.

Agent 488 08-31-2010 10:04 AM

Not sure if you are trying to be sarcastic, but I agree with your statement. Republicans do not have a recent history of shrinking the government, and as far as your "warmongering neo-con" characterization, he certainly seems to share Palin's dream of an upcoming holy war, and the second coming of their fairy tale "Jesus" character.

spazlabz 08-31-2010 10:07 AM

There is really too much to list about what I do not like about Glenn Beck. I would leave it as he is wrong, distorts the truth or flat out lies and uses inflammatory speech. Any public speaker who says he didnt write his speech, only bullet points to allow God to speak through him....yeah, that is a dangerous guy

I wasnt being sarcastic at all. I agree with his message of smaller government at home. But we can not have smaller government at home if we are promoting bigger government abroad.

TheDoc 08-31-2010 10:11 AM

I don't care what he believes this week... the way he delivers his message and the jacked up twists of his rants make everything that comes out of his mouth, complete trash. Even if he has the idea of the message right, he figures out a way to twist it into some half political nightmare made up in his own head.

how does that work then? how can his message be anti-gov but be pro-big government.

i don't watch/listen to him, but just reading *about* him everything i've read so far describes him as anit-gov.

also, the personal values focus too, is that the opposite of what he is about?

Agent 488 08-31-2010 10:16 AM

the conspiracy theories he spins are ridiculous, almost on the same level as 9/11 hologram plane people. even worse and millions believe his shit.

Because he has failed to realize that we can not have an empire as big as we do and have a small government. We can not have a small government when we intervene into the personal affairs of other countries as much as we do.

Until he realizes we can not bomb the shit out of every country on earth, can not support Israel bombing the shit out of Iran and god knows who else and have a small government he will be a big government neo-con.

TheDoc 08-31-2010 10:27 AM

no. i simply asked you if you listen to his show, you seem to know about the fella so i inquired as to how that came about.

i didn't get the anti-beck sentiment so i looked into what he is about, read that his main focus is on anti-gov and personal values, i didn't see anything wrong with those so i wanted to see what people's issue with him is.

I frequently watch his show...and yes he babbles on about such BS...and when I say babbles...I literally mean babbles. Most of his show ads up to being incoherent...disconnected...BS.

He is a clown but for whatever the reasons...he is making big bucks from his schtick.

The guy in the video talking about dragons has Beck's modus oprerandi down pat and is no more silly than Beck's connecting of the dots...except he left out Beck's red phone that he frequently points to and says...White House if I am wrong just call me.

Yanks_Todd 08-31-2010 11:15 AM

I think he lacks intelligence which always shows through when he interviews someone and uses the fact that it is his venue to cut them off, cut them short, or just talk over them. His points are easy to counter however he flat out avoids it.

MrBottomTooth 08-31-2010 11:18 AM

He recently told everyone to give 10% of their income to the church. If you didn't think he was a whackjob before, that would have to do it.

That is a common thing in churches, obviously you atheists would never understand about charity, except giving OTHER peoples money away. :error

GotGauge 08-31-2010 11:22 AM

the 2 guys talking are the same as Beck!

Joshua G 08-31-2010 11:43 AM

regardless of the merits of his ideas, he gins up enough controversy that people talk about him, which really is all he wants. The fame.

Vendzilla 08-31-2010 11:45 AM

say what you like, but he has a lot of people following him, he packed the place this last weekend, 100's of thousands they said, I saw the pics.
Even Al Sharpton who had a rally down the street couldn't really bash him, mainly because MLK's niece was speaking at the Beck rally
He's not a republican either, he's a libertarian, believes in the constitution.

Why does he have so many people listening to him, because they don't like what the present administration is doing

Because they aren't actually able to comprehend what the present administration is doing, thus watch him to get a skewed view and pure out lies from a person that is on the same mental level as a crazed maniac.

PornMD 08-31-2010 11:53 AM

I think he's Perez Hilton's bi-curious cousin. Too dramatic for a fucking NEWS channel, which is the whole problem with news today.

I suspect that his followers are on the negative side of the average American's IQ...of which there are tens of millions.

Tom_PM 08-31-2010 11:59 AM

I'm pretty sure he's a bull dyke. Not that there's anything wrong with that.
