How about Paypal?? Why aren't more sponsors offering this option??

I konw most people are affraid to use Paypal. But isn't it safe for affiliates?

I just got Topbucks e-mail, announcing that they will offer Paypal payouts, and after going through Paypal yesterday (I hadn't used it in maybe 3 years), I felt in love!

So, what do you guys think about Paypal???

Davy 09-28-2010 07:25 AM

because they'll freeze your account should they find out you are doing adult transactions.
And they'll keep your banking details on file, so that you can never open another account with the same details again.

mn 09-28-2010 07:26 AM

they don't allow adult transations (including aff payouts)... but if done correctly it's no problems at all using them

fatfoo 09-28-2010 07:26 AM

I think Paypal is a good payment method. However, I don't like that payments can be reversed.

Agreed
in my opinion PayPal is a mine field for adult companies. Could go smooth but could explode in your face. While that is true for any potential payment processor the mines are bigger with them

As has been mentioned, they find out about it, they freeze the account sending, those receiving, funds trapped for a long time and account details blacklisted.

Risky stuff, yes can be done but is it worth the chance of putting yourself into a situation like epassporte where you can't get your funds?

ajrocks 09-28-2010 07:29 AM

They will also keep your money if they find out you are adult. Its happened to users and affiliate programs. Pay Pal is a bad option. I know there are people doing it, but it just takes one person to say something to the wrong person and Pay Pal will go down the line and shut down everyone they can connect.

gleem 09-28-2010 07:30 AM

We use PP, but I do feel like it's a mine field doing large mass pays with em all of a sudden.

that's not true...

first of all they close my account every year, but only for a few days... yes i use it for gambling and adult, but just make up a lie to them and they open it again...

and worst case is they close the account, but then you WILL get a check after 180 days for the amount unless we talk about fraud.

what kind of excuse? may help someone out.

tranza 09-28-2010 07:35 AM

You can't sell porn through it, I know, I was around when they first implemented this policy it and some people got their accounts frozen...

But isn't it safe for affiliates? Wouldn't a huge sponsor like Topbucks be sure it's not a liability before offering it to affiliates??

say you did design work for example when you get adult payouts. be creative :) also tell them how much you hate porn and how humiliated you feel if they don't trust you.

It's totally fine and safe for affiliate programs to do payouts through PayPal. However, the affiliate program needs to disclose this with PayPal when they start.

The problems occur when people (or algos) at PayPal think the payouts are for other than services rendered, and they lock accounts.

Yep, that's my understanding too. So the question is: why don't more sponsors offer this payout option?

rhizome 09-28-2010 08:40 AM

Doesn't Paypal charge like 3.9% in fees also?

HomerSimpson 09-28-2010 08:44 AM

they do not allow adult and gambling related payments...

cause they would rather risk their funds with new alternatives so they can be down with the angry mob that got robbed next time...

PR_Glen 09-28-2010 08:48 AM

this is a short term solution.. wouldn't it make more sense to find a long term one? One that wont risk your money being frozen?

I had over $2k frozen in my account the first time and just less than $1k the second time for "adult transactions." Most of my transactions were incoming payments from mainstream affiliate programs. I would use the paypal card at gas stations and grocery stores. I never sold porn with paypal. After the second time I stopped using paypal for everything but ebay shit.

If you're cool with having your funds locked down for 30+ days at a time until they "investigate" and mail you a check then go ahead and use paypal.

3.9% in fees vs. not getting paid at all? I'll take the 3.9% in fees.

at least eventually you get your $$, I wouldn't be so sure with the current epass situation... :2 cents:

mn 09-28-2010 09:30 AM

they don't allow adult affiliate payments although some support people will tell you they do. but they are not so strict about it. they will never steal funds. worst case is 180 days waiting for a check.

just use non adult email, always tell them it's non adult transactions even though you get a payment from momfuckedbyhugecocks dot com. they are stupid and it never takes more than a week (more often 2 days) to get account unlocked. happened so many times i lost count.

in the end it is best to use someone 100% cool with adult so you don't worry your account gets froze.

JayDeeZee 09-28-2010 10:10 AM

We at Gamelink offer PayPal as a payout option.

gooddomains 09-28-2010 10:14 AM

paypal should work fine for affiliate cash

Denny 09-28-2010 10:44 AM

Paypal is fine :pimp

TheEnforcer 09-28-2010 11:59 AM

They will freeze your accounts in a heartbeat....

michael.kickass 09-28-2010 12:04 PM

0% when receiving a masspayment.

v4 media 09-28-2010 02:22 PM

no fees on online checks.. they take 3 days to clear though.

closer 09-28-2010 02:33 PM

I am seeing paypal as payment option on more and more adult web stores, does Paypal distinguish between tangible and digital adult products?

kristin 09-28-2010 02:41 PM

If using PayPal I would suggest making sure your email sounds business oriented and not porn.

[email protected] or [email protected] might not be the best choice. :)

[email protected] usually works the best.

The last time PP froze people's accounts for WM payouts, they held the money for X days and then paid it out - with interest added.

CyberHustler 09-28-2010 02:51 PM
