Senate: No more loud fucking commercials
The Senate unanimously passed a bill late Wednesday to require television stations and cable companies to keep commercials at the same volume as the programs they interrupt.

Am glad they are dealing with the important issues in a timely manner.

Nevermind. |
What would we do without them?

Well maybe not a major law, but certainly one I can get behind... I fucking hate that shit so much it's unreal.
Lately its been worse than ever, Can barely hear a television show yet the commercials are so loud you feel like you're losing your fucking mind to find the controller. |
America, Fuck Yeah!

Meanwhile, Congress refuses to vote on anything important until after the elections.

Woohoo, our Congress passed a law about loud commercials, but failed to pass a budget. What a bunch of corrupt, dishonest, incompetent assholes!
|
i wish we had that law here.
|
The sound for shows on TNT has always been lower than every other channel but their commercials are fucking loud. So annoying.
|
The loud commercials were making it just too hard for them to listen in on you via your cell phone and the mic connected to your computer. They had to do something about that. They did. :2 cents:
+1 for big brother |
This seems like something new. I don't recall commercials ever being that loud until the last year or so.

I thought they passed something like this years ago but it wasn't obeyed or enforced?

Commercials? Those things I skip with TIVO?
Let me guess, the bill was passed with 2 billion in pork spending on protecting the indigenous Cracker moth of a South Dakota swamp? |

What an important issue to resolve..

OK, this makes more sense, it will probably never happen...
"The Senate unanimously passed a bill late Wednesday to require television stations and cable companies to keep commercials at the same volume as the programs they interrupt. The House has passed similar legislation. Before it can become law, minor differences between the two versions have to be worked out when Congress returns to Washington after the Nov. 2 election." Which means by next year commercials will actually be louder than they are now. |

.....there are NO swamps in South Dakota.... |
I wish they'd pass a law banning political commercials, BP apology commercials, pharmaceutical commercials (or anything that says "ask your doctor"). I flip channels for all 3 of those these days.
MUTE is very handy as well. An hour of TV time can include 20 minutes of quiet time without missing a single moment of the show. Now lets get the senate to agree that it's a good idea to subpeona the companies responsible for the gulf oil spill.. seems some dont want anyone asking questions. Oh well, at least we have the commercial thing to agree on. |

With all the crap that is going on, I am glad they found the time to tackle this very grave issue :1orglaugh:1orglaugh:1orglaugh

Let's be real. This isn't a very controversial issue, so naturally it's easier to get it passed and done. There are a great number of issues that are more important but those are always controversial and takes forever due to gridlock and opposition.
That's why something like this can get done, and the important things can't get done. |
