That's still pretty true for the most part. Yeh, the big tournaments often have new guys with very deep runs, but if you look at the final table you will see a lot of guys that have been there multiple times before and have won many other big tournaments.

This guy isn't a lucky hack, he's a player.

Anybody know when this airs?

bloggerz 11-09-2010 06:12 AM

nice congrats to him

chronig 11-09-2010 06:24 AM

Next year it'll be blackvaginafinder winning...

He's taking a break from getting his aids infested penis sucked from ghetto crack nigra whores and playing poker professionally.

He's already watched a poker for dummies DVD and has currently been tearing it up with an average of winning 100$/day on PokerStars.net play money tables.

He's stepped it up to the .05/.10 cent NO LIMIT games, but took quite the beating losing a whopping 6 dollars over the past two weeks. Don't work BVF - that's poker and I'm sure you'll be in the green in no time.

BlackCrayon 11-09-2010 06:29 AM

he'll be dead of an "od" soon..

fatfoo 11-09-2010 07:54 AM

It's sure a huge amount of money.

woj 11-09-2010 07:56 AM

That's because poker isn't a game purely based on skill.

You play poker? Don't tell me you never got lucky.

Supz 11-09-2010 08:03 AM

Congrats to him. Although my boy Grinder and his brother killed it this year in the WSOP.

Playing like amateurs is different from getting lucky. You can get lucky either way.
I haven't seen the game yet so I can't judge the play.

Roby 11-09-2010 12:39 PM

congrat to him

I honestly have no idea but I would guess that in order to win a tournament of thatsize, you'd have to get lucky and win when an underdog at least a dozen times. Probably more than that, and that's not counting winning coin-flip situations which you'd likely have to win more than your fair share of as well. There IS skill involved but with how many highly skilled players in these tournaments now, luck actually plays a HUGE factor.

Yeah, that hand just devastated Affleck. Even if Duhamel put Affleck on a higher pair he still had 10 outs because of the 9/10/q flop. Still though, to call his entire stack when Affleck pushed on the turn was not the correct call, but of course the 8 hit the river to give him a straight and crack Affleck's aces and send him home.

LeRoy 11-09-2010 01:00 PM

Nice pile o' cash for him! Lucky fucker

JJ wins 40% of the time here when facing a over pair. I'll have to wait n see what kind of pot odds he was getting to say if it was a bad call.

Edit. It's only 22% on the turn. Maybe he thought his JJ was good.

Amazingly, I've seen every episode probably three times now and have yet to see that episode.

So it was after the flop? Either before or after the flop, I don't see calling all in with JJ that terrible of a call? Risky, no doubt. I've also seen Affleck play with crap. I probably wouldn't call all in with JJ, but I'm no tournament winner either LOL.

DiF0r 11-09-2010 01:25 PM

Wow that's something:)

pornguy 11-09-2010 01:25 PM

Good for him. I hope he is smart enough not to blow it.

fuzebox 11-09-2010 01:30 PM

You can't just look at the one hand and go "omg it was a bad call"... Did Affleck bluff him out earlier? He could have made the call based on Affleck's behavior rather than his pot odds and what he put him on.

Flop was something like 6 9 10 Rainbow... Johnathan checks, matt bets, turn is Q... Jonathan checks, matt moves in for like 11 mil, Jonathan waits for like 5 seconds (TV wise anyways), and calls, BINK 8 on river..... Matt cries, throws water bottles etc etc, but wouldn't you? Finished 80th last year and i think 14th this year, sucks :/

I can't imagine he put Affleck on a bluff, just think he felt he had 10 outs to win and was willing to risk it. I don't think pot odds really mattered at this point as he had to call for his entire tournament life and was only 6 players from making the final table. I don't think I would have called in that spot, I think if he folds at that point he still would have had close to 80 big blinds.

Here's the hand, after rewatching, I think Affleck should have 5bet shoved pre flop. I think he just called the 4bet to trap, although I'm sure now after watching again that Duhamel would have called if Matt had shoved pre flop, so I guess it doesn't matter.

BabeHunter 11-09-2010 02:08 PM

damn that's nice

solopimps 11-09-2010 02:11 PM

It's possible he calls pre with JJ... If matt shoves he really isnt getting the odds to call and he would have to think he is up against AK at worst, but who knows... Jonathan made a few plays throughout the tournament that made it clear he is willing to gamble, so maybe the money was going in no matter what and whats meant to be is meant to be lol. Congrats to him though, making your way through a field of 7k+ isn't just luck.

I don't think either of them really played that terribly wrong. I can see where each of them was coming from in their decisions. Matt got a really bad flop, maybe should have pushed harder after that? Matt could have done things different, Jonathan could have done things different... would the outcome have been much different? Its poker, shit happens.
