Great advice, I'm not a blogger but the SE advice is great, one question, I've looked at your Overture keyword link, did a search with 100 results ranging from 100,000 to 700, now if I wanted to put all these keywords on my page would I get penalized if they was the same colour as the background?

Cheers

I think nobody knows for sure, if you don't link them together it may will be good. But if you want to link them together then i think different subs and different whois info MAY count. Im still waiting from a professional input about this 'ip+whois+registar+etcetc' conspiracy.

hdkiller 01-12-2007 04:22 AM

I have an another question, i managed somehow to show up on technoraty for a tag sexy and got around 100 uniq in 10 mins from there. But im unable to reproduce. Also, only one blogs of mine shows up in their results. Anybody know more about this?

Thanks.

1. Getting a domain name- In my opinion, the domain has nothing to do with your SEO ranking but its nice to have a domain that somewhat relates to the content of your site.

I have a problem with that right off the bat. The purpose of using blog software for your website is that you want to run a blog and search engines love blogs. In order to get rankings in the search engines you have to either get SE trust or write something of the upmost quality that people all over the world will want to link to you. Or atleast a few 100 people over a short time.

The Domain is everything now to accomplish this. And if someone thinks they're going to put a blog together with some subdomains and get some links to them and they're going to take off is rediculous. It just doesn't happen that way and if you're going to teach someone else how to do something then atleast get the correct info.

If this is the Idiots guide to start an adult blog then if you take this advice as as true then you are an idiot.

not meaning to disrespect you man but don't act like an expert and hand out this garbage.

Plain and simple, write quality content with minimal pics and videos. More words in a particular niche and stay in that niche.

Domains age and back links are everything. Without trust yo won't get ranked for anything remotely competitive and less than 4 keyword phrases and that's after 6+ months.

If it was as easy as stealing content from affiliates' RSS feeds and putting up on a default blog dont you think we would all be rich. I make my money in mainstream but I keep my adult stuff up cause I've been adult blogging for 4+ years and it's making me $500 - $2000 a month.

Yea that's a wide range but my most popular posts fluctuate a lot on google's front page and that's the reason. I've been front page many boobs related search terms that's got me decent conversions of 1:200 on some weeks and 1:2000 on other's. And the content never changed.

a few more quick hints IMHO are never use duplicated content such as affiliates RSS feeds and copying from other blogs. This will only get you penalized and it's hard to come back from that.

Write one page a day for 2 or 3 months about your niche and don't worry about sales or affilaite's links.

Write more for the reader and not about making sales. When someone bookmark's you or subscribes to your rss feed you got someone as an audience. Don't disappoint them!!

Your adult blog isn't going to get a PR4 or PR5 anytime soon unless you do something extraordinary. Domain name age counts for A LOT. if you don't have that then consider yourself in for a long time of waiting and writing. The one's who wait it out are doing ok. I have 3 domains names that's have been around for about 3 years now and they are only PR4 with a few dozen QUALITY backlinks. The traffic is ok but it never fluctuates more than about 15% a week. So 3k-4k uniques a day and that mostly for SE traffic.

It's late and I'm bushed. Let a girl get some sleep and hit me up in the morning if you want to talk more blogs.

Trust Places Hosting your blog!?

Thumblogger looks cool but this is my concern. What if they shut down; what if they kill your account? I had a blog on a "free" place that I was getting thousands of hits and they shut me down one day and now I have no material or blog or traffic!. (YES YES I should of saved every blog i ever put up....) but I didn't.

Also; using Thumblogger with a PR5 isn't that alot better then starting one w/ wordpress?

Confused but in for the long run. Just lost the blog I had going so now I"m left wondering what to do!! :helpme

We'll see?! I know what it can do.. A very huge network of sites can outblow the top results at very great keywords. At the moment it won't happen, because there aren't much sites, but if you want to beat them, join startspace.com!

And if you look at: http://team-squirt.startspace.com/

It looks better than the average adult website for sure and that in a few clicks!

no dont do that(farming). get a new domain for each blog.

I've found an article (Google Penalties and How To Avoid Them) and it mentions "link farms":

A link farm exists solely to increase PageRank by requiring the exchange of links between themselves and otherwise entirely unrelated websites. Should one of them, unknown to you, link to your site, Google won't penalize you for that. They believe you have no real control who links to your site.

On the other hand, Google feels you have complete control as to where you point your own links. Should you link your site to a link farm, clearly with the goal of increasing your PageRank and link popularity, Google will most likely respond negatively to your action. Google uses the "does it help your visitors, and if search engines didn't exist, would you still do it" test. That seems a reasonable test to ask yourself for any activity you use for your own website.

Before I read this article I bought a domain with the intention of using many subdomains to save $$$. If this is going to get me penalized, I'll repurpose the domain and buy a new one for each blog. Thanks for the tip! :thumbsup

$500-2000/m? I'm hoping for more than that. Which is why it's my intention to create blogs for several RSS feeds and have them update automatically so I can be more productive.

How does google distinguish these sites and penalize them?

Well, it's just duplicated content. If they find the exact same piece of content on a 100 different sites, clearly this content is not yours, so you shouldn't get SE credit for it.

Makes sense.

To what degree does the content need to be modified for it to be optimized for the SE?

I suggest you to install your blog on your hosting and not to use free hosted blogs platform. More control on your blog, you can add lots of features and you don't have banners or links from the blogs platform.

Of course it is ok just if you know how to manage a blog script and update it

A few blog SEO questions

I have a couple questions about SEO optimizations...
  1. If I hold my posts as drafts, then paraphrase them (take words and replace them with their synonyms, etc.) to what extent do I have to modify the content for google to not see it as duplicate content?
  2. If all my posts have the same hosted images linked in them, will Google see that as duplicate content?
  3. Other than my main keyword, how do I know which words to link within posts?

SE reconize that the bold words are important and correlate them with your site. An easy way to see what SEs like is searhing for your term in google. Look at the first site and see what google likes about it. Go here and see the density of the keyword so you know about how much you need to use it in your post. You cannot make too many post. Search engines love fresh content so write up!

  4. tytyguy, you say "Go here" to see the density of a keyword, but there is no link. Where do I go to check that?

All your replies are very much appreciated! :thumbsup
