It's not really that unsettling other than just thinking about what would happen if all bees were to disappear off the face of the Earth tomorrow. What is happening now isn?t anything new and has virtually been going on forever; the event is commonly referred to as a Colony Collapse Disorder (CCD). Mass CCDs come and go in cycles and nobody really knows exactly why. They are pretty sure that the varroa mite is a huge contributor to CCD's occurring but that is just one of many things they believe that affect the colonies at mass.
