I can only answer your question to a certain extent since reality is never perfect.
Illegal settlements are illegal. Illegal things should be avoided and if exists should be resolved.
As to settlements - I think there are not good to israel and as to Israeli law - some of the settlements are illegal. As to those, they should be evacuated. But the word illegal implies law. Some of the settlements has been approved and therefore not illegal by Israeli law. About the concept of international law - its a problematic issue to define what is international law since there has never been an agreement on any
I personally wish settlements never existed. I also think the settleements in Tibet are a worse crime since they were pure envasion and not like in israel - a result of a was beeing imposed on Israel

Regardless - which has to do with directfiesta

Maybe both leaders should be put asise and replaced by more moderate leaders....
Israel had a leader, actually 3, which any country could only wish having so moderate leaders. Yitzhak Rabin, Shimon Peres and Ehud Barak. All three went beyond what I think is humanly reasonable towards the palestinian ""leader"" (infamously knowen as Yasser). The problem as I see it is not the Israeli side on the political map.

If that peace could be obtained, it would solve most if not all of the problems in the region.
No it wont. Actually peace can not be obtained BECAUSE of the nature of the middle east. When countries like Iran, Iraq, Syria, Lybia, Lebanon and other terror supporting countries have so much power and influence on the palastenians its hard to deal with them. Maybe US effect on the middle east will be much beyond Iraq. that is what I hope. Israel is being forced by the US to concessions time and again. Its time for some equilibrium - even forced one. The middle east will be peacefull once the arab world (especially the muslim) will grow into realization that Terror is not an option and peace is a good thing - not something you unfortunatelly have to agree to (temporarily) because you were given the thing you tried to extort with terror.
