My favorite part about web 2.0 sites like facebook is people will say "i'm addicted to facebook" or "I can't live without facebook" yet as soon as facebook tries to make a few bucks with ads, all the users revolt...lol.
But yes, someone smart is going to need to come along and figure out how to make real money with one of these sites. The problem is they are so based on being trendy, you have to make your money early, not later as they all try to do. Facebook will be replaced as will Twitter as the "it" websites the same way Myspace is slowly being phased out and losing it's cool factor.
Someone on GFY compared these sites to nightclubs and it was a good comparison. The difference is a trendy nightclub makes a shitload of cash the first few months then just shuts down, these sites don't make any money at first, which they have to do in a trend based marketplace.
