A proper dose of mushrooms can have you gibbering on the ground unable to speak because your mind is in a lucid fire as it experiences the universe pushing you into the earth and it hasn't left any neurons spare for shallow things like co-ordinating your lips and tongue to make words.

I remember walking down an empty street in the middle of the night screaming at the top of my lungs, unsure whether or not the sounds were thoughts in head, or if I was actually speaking out loud. I was mumbling to myself, and suddenly thought that I could no longer make sounds, that I couldn't actually hear what I thought was coming out of my mouth and that it was just thoughts. It took me probably a good block and a half to realize I was actually screaming out loud random "can you hear me?" "am i making sounds?" Sure as fuck at least one person heard or saw me and was headfucked by it. I fucking love mushrooms...
