Canon 5D MkII is quite popular on lots of small budget motion picture projects.
I just came from a pre-production meeting for a film project I'm working on and there were no less than 5 of them hanging around the meeting/party. These folks are all serious film geeks too, so that says something about what DSLRs are capable of.
Aside from the RED camera's, Sony has a line that dedicated video camera with specs better than the current crop of DSLRs.
