Well Im not sure how much a stone weighs but it sounds like you are off to a pretty fair start.
Start walking every day 7 days a week. Short walks to start and then make them longer. ONce they get longer you can cut out a few days. Take it slow and easy for a while. ( 3 months ) and then start to pick up the pace. Just walking, and watching what you eat will shed the pounds.
Also start to cut back on Carbohydrates. More protein and cut out as much fat as you can but does not have to be 100% lean. Limit the carbs don't cut them out.
And not matter what anyone says here, follow your DR's advice first.
