Because it seemed to me like you were chastising the cops for standing a distance away from the car. If it was reasonable for the police to fear that the car may have been booby trapped with an explosive, then it is also reasonable for the cops to stand a distance away from the car in order to lessen the odds of getting hit with shrapnel.
But if you are not chastising the police for that, then I read your message wrong apparently.
