Crazy thing is if its Middle Eastern terrorist's, then there will be a ground invasion and billions spent, But if its just crazy locals, every one will just move on because its their democratic right to weapons and its an individuals problem.

As far as the police swats waiting, they have the gear at hand, so you use it, time is not of the issue except for the TV watchers.

So the only thing I can see so far is that the US SWAT is absolutely useful in such situation. Useful and overpaid.

I feel for the killed and injured people of course. That's terrible. I just don't understand why the suspects in that car are still not arrested and questioned...

There were multiple gunmen with assault rifles, body armor and masks. They killed over 10 people and were not injured in any way. They fled, but only for a small distance, and then engaged police. It seems as if this was an operation.

According to what I heard from reports, a police officer was doing a "secondary investigation" in the neighborhood when someone there started shooting at him. So if that cop is to be believed, then that shooter might have been one of the original suspects...or a totally independent person not involved in the original shooting at the disability center.

It's a possibility, though I just heard that the neighborhood shooter threw pipe bombs out of the SUV before he was killed. I don't think drug dealers usually carry pipe bombs.

What about street gang members? Also how they already know it was a pipe bomb but not a standard military grenade (like M61, M67, RGD-5 etc)? I mean it will take some time for experts to make the final conclusion. Isn't it?

Anyways, let's hope the killed one was one of those mofos. And let's hope at least one of 3 will be taken alive to be questioned.

Its not a sign of how great and brave you are, its a sign of being under funded, under equipped and under trained. Your police/ swat would have to storm the vehicle, because they have no choice, especially once comrade has given the order.

I don't understand what kind of equipment you are talking about. They have the same type of equipment as Israeli anti-terror forces (all those stunning grenades, gas, armor, cornershots, robots etc) and they both are considered the most trained in the World. Personally I don't know more trained and equipped anti-terror forces like Israeli and Russian ones - both our countries are at an intensive war on terror for many years. Russian Spetsnaz is one of the most recognized anti-terror forces, while the Australian one is just unknown. It looks like you stuck in 50's of the last century... Probably not a good idea to storm a vehicle that's just been shooting at you with assault weapons and throwing pipe bombs at you, especially if you not sure the car is wired or if they occupants are actually dead.

It seems... As the investigation has unfolded, there was a number of potential suspects they started looking into. Police staked out locations while getting warrants, and a black SUV attempted to leave. Police attempted to pull them over which ended up in a gun battle.

Why would the gunmen be less than two miles from the scene? Because they lived locally. This doesn't seemed to have been something they planned; They went to a party / office event, there was an argument, they left and returned armed like Rambo. They did not have an escape plan - gunmen rarely do - and after the shooting they had no place to go.

There was some kind of an explosive device at the original shooting, and potentially a second explosive device when the suspects were killed. Once there is an explosive device involved it's just common sense to take your time and make sure there isn't another explosive device or some kind of booby trap.

Because it seemed to me like you were chastising the cops for standing a distance away from the car. If it was reasonable for the police to fear that the car may have been booby trapped with an explosive, then it is also reasonable for the cops to stand a distance away from the car in order to lessen the odds of getting hit with shrapnel.
