I've been testing a few different providers to see if it can improve my own development time. I'm not sure yet if it has, maybe I need a better prompt. Anyway I only did a basic bootstrap layout (1 page lander with hero carousel and scroll to section navigation), a quick query to pull records from a database and a function to display the results in said layout using lazy load. So, technically, it did provide both front end (html, css, javascript) and backend programming (php code) from a prompt.
Normal time (100% finished links/text/images/etc) without AI:
Maybe 2-3 hours.
Time with AI:
Maybe 2 hours. But, I had to fine tune things and replace placeholder images as well, so maybe closer to 3 hours.
I really don't think your average user is going to have the slightest clue on how any of it works, or how to piece it together. I know there are some services available that will put it all together for you, but they will still have to pay a monthly fee to use it. Maybe the DIY types will try it, then realize it's not as easy or quick as they thought.
Either way, I don't think AI is going away any time soon, so probably best to figure out how to use it to your advantage.

My brother published a game which required him to set up 2 servers. It gave him the step by step. I'm a non coder running scripts in Python that create json databases and organize millions of combinations of things and it gave me the exact step by step to install all libraries and other things. I even have it spit out code that has proper headers so I don't have to cmd my way around goofily.
I really don't understand when people say nobody will figure this stuff out, they have and are. Nearly every smart friend I know is doing something with AI and each of them are different than the last. I'm building magical things and even I know I'll get left in the dust in the future, I can't imagine not even getting in the game.
This is as big as when the internet was invented. There is no way you aren't sleeping on what is possible with what you just said.
