I wonder why people seem to forget that the root of this leak is based on espionage by an American soldier who shouldn't have had any kind of security clearance. As a kid, he refused to say the pledge of allegiance, and is a known flaming left wing activist.

Both him and Assange have nothing but malicious intent toward the US government. They've also put US soldiers and operatives in danger, and made their jobs much more difficult. Anyone that thinks all nations can just be transparent and operate without secrecy are just showing how naive they are.

There's a difference between secrecy and huge blatant lies. I can live fine not knowing every detail of what the government does to protect us, but for them to start an unnecessary war that costs our money and soldiers' lives based on huge lies should never be acceptable to ANYONE.

That said, I'm not entirely sure that Wikileaks has really exposed anything serious that intelligent people didn't already know or assume and would not be surprised if this whole thing does more damage to us all than good, once our father the government starts eliminating our privacy thanks to this.

I have no issue with wikileaks.. The info that is being put out in the public has no value to anyone other that it will embarrass a few folks. I have an active TS (SCI) for contract work I still do. Some of the reports from iraq (2004-2005-2006) are some of the very ones I and my team sent up the chain. And trust me when I say they are of no value to anyone not in the loop. I am laughing at all hub bub from people that have no idea what classified info really is..

It seems everyone is basing their opinions on wikileaks by what secrets or deals the governments are keeping that would embarrass them.
I don't look at it that way
I worry about the average soldier that has some equipment or some movement that is detailed is compromised with all this. That private that gave out the secrets, he should be put to death, thats an oath you take in the military, if he didn't like, too fucking bad. And the guy that spread it all over the place, I don't care if lives or dies either.

Call Ron what you will, I believe the man, when I saw him debate with all the other republican candidates back in this past race I though I was dreaming. He said things to a national audience that had never been uttered from a republican running for office. To this day I watch that and feel inspired,(seeing Guliani's smirking face is enough) if there can be a little glimmer of hope in this insane goverment I believe its his courage.
