I don't think it would happen. The only reason Romeny would consider her would be to help him win the hardcore conservative Christians over and you can see how it worked out for McCain. While she might bring some of those over, she would cost him a lot of independents.

If it were she who was the nominee and offered him the VP slot, he might take it, but I still don't think he would. He clearly wants to be president, but I don't see him hitching his wagon to that crazy train.

No one is taking plain seriously except for the liberal media who's propping her up in the hopes she'll run against obama.
She's good at rallies and slinging stones at Barry.

There are many in the republican party who take her very seriously. They take her seriously enough that they have changed the primary rules for 2012. The republicans have a winner take all primary. If you win the state, you get all the delegates. For the next election they are changing it so that if a state holds its primary before April 1st it will have to split the delegates based on percentage of vote just like the democrats do. So if you win 50% of the vote, you get 50% of the delegates and so on.

They did this because the bible belt states make up about 10 of the first 12 (or so) primaries. Someone like Palin who has a strong base in those states could go in an win a bunch of those states and knock out someone who is more mainstream and who would fair better in the general election. So they changed it. This way even if she wins early, the other candidates could pick up some delegates and stick around a little longer until the election leaves the bible belt.

Palin takes herself seriously. And 1/3 of voters say they would vote for her. So at least 1/3 of voters are morons?

If that figure is correct, then yes. After all, Dubya was elected twice (or once depending on how you look at it).

The article made a point that people are worn out with the same old politician up at the podium spitting the same old obvious lies and bullshit. Something about Sarah Palin's ditzy soccer mom approach comforts specific people somehow. It makes sense. I mean, they can't actually be taking her seriously for any other reason can they?

You do make a strong point. There is a segment of society that loves her. They see her as one of them and they buy into what she is selling. These are the people that watch her show and buy her books etc. One this is for sure, she is not like many politicians. I think she is one of those cases where crazy is attracted to crazy.

If by the rest of America you mean around 40-46% of the country then you are right. Her favorability rating was as low as around 20% as recently as October, but after her daughter was on Dancing with the Stars and her reality show aired (not to mention the election that she was pretty active in) it moved up to somewhere between 40-46% depending on which poll you believe.

Last I checked roughly 54-60% of America was not urban sophisticated democrats.

Is "cut and run" a leadership skill? As I recall, she resigned early as Alaska's governor and hasn't done much else.

Romney = Obama Lite. Palin = Dumb bitch. Yup sounds like a team the American people would vote for. Now only if Romney can run his campaign like a Pepsi marketing campaign (like Obama did) then you have a winner.

Romney put together an unfunded mandate for people to buy health insurance in Massachusetts didnt he? Talk about poison pills. I'd like to see the flipping and flopping on that one, but personally, I'd say Romney is not even going to be in the running. Or Palin. Fun to speculate though.

Yup and it bankrupted the state and the program is failing miserably. Health care costs are rising faster in Mass than any other state in the country. Cant wait for this to kick in on the national level!

What is it about Obama you don't like? Hilary has the same policies so it can't be that.

What don't you like about Barack Obama? You said you would vote for the same policies if a white woman were to be the one in office. Please explain yourself.

That is very possible. But something you might be overlooking is that the republican primaries are closed primaries so only republicans can vote in them. These would be the same republicans that voted for and elected as their candidate Palin backed Christine O'Donnell in Delaware. They had a low turnout in the vote, she only got about 30,000 votes in a state of about 900,000 people, but it was enough to beat the other republican contender. Of course she got crushed in the general election.

If Palin comes out strong and wins Iowa and then wins or comes in a close second in the next couple of states after that, she could conceivably knock out a bunch of the field just with those wins. When you look back at the last election Huckabee did really well and hung with McCain through the early stages and the bible belt because the religious right supported him and they were not very happy with McCain. There is no guarantee the religious right would support Romney (they didn't last time) nor Gingrich. If they decide Palin is their candidate she could make some noise.

All that said, I don't think she will run or at least she won't run in a serious manner. Running for president (if you want to be serious about it and actually try to win) is basically a full time job that takes two years of your life and a lot of time and money. She could raise the money, but I have a feeling she is having fun raking in millions writing books and being on TV and running for president could put a damper on that.

Sadly I think a lot more people would Vote for Palin than you might think.

She could raise the money, but I have a feeling she is having fun raking in millions writing books and being on TV and running for president could put a damper on that.
think about how a debate between palin and gingrich would look. take a breath, and then get back to me.

I watched Palin's Alaska last night on TLC. She had that Goslin chick with all her kids and they were camping in Alaska. Everyone pussied out and camped on a sand dune. Before they went to sleep, Palin said "Don't worry everyone, I have a firearm just in case bears come, we'll all be safe".

She is ear/eye-delicious. Good times.

That would do nothing to cut costs it would only defer the costs into something else.

It would look a lot like the debate between Palin and Biden. It would be a seasoned leader going against a woman who comes off as if she just got elected to her local PTA. And that is exactly what her supporters love about her. They love that she is supposedly just like them. Her shucks and gosh-gollies resonate with a certain group.

Chances are she wouldn't debate Gingrich one on one. For the primaries they tend to have those big panel debates where they are basically allowed to just spout her talking points.

The thing that could go strongly against her is that she will be under some serious fire. McCain, once he realized what he had done, protected her to a certain degree. Her fellow republicans who don't like her to begin with and many of them blame her as one of the reasons they didn't recapture the Senate will savage her. Someone like Gingrich could easily pull her into a game where she ends up always on the defensive.

I'm not saying she will win. I'm just saying that there is a scenario out there where she could win. And all of this goes back to the original argument and point which is that republicans do fear her. If for no other reason they fear her because in the last two elections they lost control of the religious right base and she is one of the few visible big names out there who has a strong influence with them.

Not hardly, Biden may be seasoned but he is not a very good speaker.
