Horseradish, does it matter?

Are there differing qualities of horseradish? What is the best and easy enough to find with no time to prepare?

So, I should just sample each of the Brand X types and see which burns most? Can I buy litmus paper to test it with?

The one he mentioned above the President's Choice is sort of a premiere no-name brand in Canada. There must be similar manufacturers in the States. A company who makes numerous condiments/pickles etc but always high end for the richer tastes.

Probably get 'good' stuff by buying the brand from one of them. Or hit one of the better deli's in your area and just ask them what they recommend/sell, they have that shit on lock and probably will be able to steer you in the right direction.

usually grated is the best, but there are many good creamy/semi creamy ones, we have half a dozen different ones in the fridge at any given time, mostly bought in boutique shops. my current favorite: Crazyhorse Wasabi Horseradish. will give your nose and tastebuds a serious ass kicking.

It is about 70 today, and there is a nice deli in Marina del Rey that would make for a nice ride. More fun than a phone call. Great idea.

Ah yes. My favorite deli uses that stuff. Forgot about it. I am still going for the ride though.

The only white sauce you consume is man seed.

I like the grated for shrimp cocktail sauce and the creamy for sandwiches. I usually buy whatever is at the local store, it's not like I'm gonna have some chefs over to eat and could tell the quality of the brand.

yeah, that will be the day. I would never try to make something that I wasn't somewhat knowledgeable about. I don't use it enough to know the difference.
